I may go and I live in LA...
I probably can't because I'd have to skip a day of school...
and my parents would not approve...

What kind of policies are there on dropping in and meeting some people, and possibly participating, without registering for food, after-jam dinner, etc.? For example, what if I'm in the area but I may not be able to attend the whole thing and so on?

This should be OK--just give us a quick ping as the jam approaches. We do limit attendance by selling tickets, but just to make sure everyone who comes has enough room and a good experience.  As long as the studio isn't completely jam-packed local people are welcome to come hang out!

Is it a bad idea to go to this not knowing at all what to expect (IE not having a game currently in progress)?

I'm not entirely sure exactly what this Fig Jam thing is, but I'm hoping it's an excuse to play/make games, meet new people and get drunk while doing so  Beer!

Correct on the address, and you should come regardless!  Last year we had a fairly loose structure--some people started weekend-length projects, others worked on existing projects, and a few people just hung around and chatted up their fellow indie.

Hey guys. Turns out that I'm going to a seminar thing at Sitewire which just happens to be in Tempe, Arizona (about 10 miles away from Flashbang), which just so happens to also be running from the 11th - 14th. Which pretty much means I'll be able to tag along. Well, hello there!

I don't have any games in development, but I do have a crap load of work on Game Jolt to do. Any problems with me working on something other than a game while I'm hanging out?

And, since I'm so amazing, I will allow you guys to announce the fact that I'm going to promote the Jam. Big Laff

Also, what's everyone else doing for lodging? Anything cheap down there?

Tickets Are Now On Sale!

Your $50 includes a TIGJam t-shirt, snacks/drinks, and the final night dinner.  We have limited capacity (and actually turned away people last year), so please buy your tickets soon!  Our offices are only so big; we will limit capacity to something sensible.

We're working on a few speakers to include some formal-ish presentations during the jam.  Stay tuned for details!

That's fine!

Also, what's everyone else doing for lodging? Anything cheap down there?

A few people stayed in hotels last year, but most everyone lodged with locals.  We'll start up a housing thread where locals will offer space and people can work out who they're staying with.

If you want to look up hotels the office is 209 E Baseline Rd, Tempe AZ--I think there's a cluster of cheap places at Baseline and the I-10.

Sold about 50% of the tickets already.  Act now!  Flights are looking pretty cheap, too--$200 round trip from SFO, $300 from NYC (depending on how near/far you guys are).
