This looks really cool! The sound design is very satisfying, and I like how all the elements of the game multiply with other elements to create new possibilities.

Thanks - I'm pretty happy with how things are turning out so far. The demo was so popular that I'm actually considering releasing another build with some of the most requested additions patched in. For laptop players, strategy-oriented games that require right-clicking can be frustrating, so I'm thinking about adding a "touchpad" mode where you can do everything with left clicking.

Nookrium a fairly popular indie game YouTuber recently shared his playthrough of Chrysalis. He had a solid run, making it to the 2nd level of the demo:

I am working on adding the remaining Spirits to the game. The first is a Fay Spirit which turns your creature pink and gives them a pet fairy, which periodically heals them. As with all Spirits, you can apply the buff more than once and the effect gets random upgrades. For the Fay Spirit, the upgrades are:
  • + Healing%
  • + Number of healing pulses
  • - Cooldown time

I will be testing this out and hopefully starting on the final Spirit this week!

In preparation for launch, I've been adding more high-level metamorphoses for each base species. So there are about a dozen new creatures in the game now, and since every species can mutate with every other species, there over 100 new unique combinations to discover!

I'm working on finish up the Events, Boons, and new Growths (towers) for release! It should be a fun time, finally getting to follow this years long part-time project across the finish line.

We are adding some new features/mechanics for Followers in Chrysalis. There will now be a cap on the total number of Followers the player can have at once. Gearing up for our launch in December, we're updating the Demo and playtest version on Steam with these new features!

I also spent some time fiddling with Steamworks to get cloud saves working on the playtest build. I'm not sure how "in demand" this feature is, but there's something nice about adding those extra feature bars on the right side of your Store page, showing that you have a decent amount of Steam integration. Does it help with visibility? I've seen conflicting reports, so I'm not sure. But I figure it can't hurt!

I'm excited and happy to be finally releasing a real game. Thanks to everyone who popped in and offered comments and encouragement over the years!

Here are some recent videos from content creators playing the pre-release version:

Now...finalizing some creature combos and making sure everything works before release...

I'm still kind of shocked at how well release has gone. Civilization-focused YouTuber PotatoMcWhiskey released a video on Chrysalis which has received over 100k views and resulted in us reaching the front page of Steam on the New & Trending list.  Who, Me?

Feedback and overall vibe has been very positive. People really want controller support which will be interesting to develop given the mouse/keyboard controls are very integral to certain parts of the game. I'm still thinking about that!
