Finished normal mode on Shadow of the Colossus.
That game was worth every penny.
I'm now beating Hard, then Time Attacking every colossus on both difficulties.
I'm obsessed.

God yes, Shadow of the Colossus was awesome. I wish I had something else to say about it, but no.. it's just fantastic. Pretty much speaks for itself

Soul Calibur II! If you have a brother, play Cervantes vs. Cervantes with him and lose 80% of the time. Then get upset.

...raphael...
ugh. Raphael was horrible. Not to mention the stupid "attack-attack-attack by hammering the same button three times" combo. We practically banned a guy from playing because he'd just use Raphael and that combo. man myself. Ivy ftw. And in the game, too.

Yeah, Soul Cal 2 is always fun...
My favorite thing when I play with a friend of mine is to set the health bars and time limit to infinite and then choose a level that allows falling off of the edge.
Definitely makes things interesting...

Newsflash:
Rez has crazy awesome music. It's techno done right.
And reminds me or Everyday Shooter a lot.

I'd go with:
Armored Core 3 and its "expansion" Silent Line: AC3 is just a lot of fun (I liked it much better than 2 and I bought it back after returning it). Once you've gotten down design and control with 3, get SL and you get dozens more parts to design with and more fun in general.
Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance: It's as realistic or as fun as you want it be, really. The difficulty levels are PERFECT, as far as I'm concerned. And it's just so much fun to play. Substance gives you more missions and such to do, as well, which is great since you can try stuff that you don't get the opportunity to do in the story (stealth tactics with the blade are great).
Onimusha series: Beyond being "Resident Evil with samurai", it really is a satisfying game to play. I actually haven't played the first, but I hear great things about it (and it's short, meaning that replaying to get all the difficulties and such is more doable). 2 has a nicely done story and the best art direction of the series. 3 is pretty much a perfection of survival-horror action (Resident Evil 4 is too different to fit that genre as much). It also has JEAN RENO in it. And the fourth, Dawn of Dreams, is more of an action RPG with a huge emphasis on action. My personal favorite of the series, it's also long and has crazy amounts of equipment and items in it.
Street Fighter EX3: It shows its age incredibly well, but it's also one of my favorite fighting games. I even went back to it after a while despite its lack of "extras" just because it's really satisfying to play.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Persona series (although I think Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne is the latest one). I spent a lot of time on Persona 2 trying to recruit demons to kick ass for my band of disaffected callow youth.

Actually, the latest is Persona 3 (Persona is a separate series from the original Shin Megami Tensei), which I've heard is good. Scratch that, *really* good. As in one of my next purchases good.

If you're into thrillers, I say pick up silent hill 2, and to some extent 3. Survivor-horror, like Resident Evil, but with 100% better controls.
