Gonna try to light the fire on this one. It is good practice for learning backends. I plan to make the upgrade system more customizable, as well as add pathing for the bad guys, some of them will be land, some of them will be water, and some of them will be both. But I loved the old "Desktop Tower Defense" where you could optimize your tower layout to force the baddies to go through a circuitous path.
Also, I tend to hate power games where you make alliances and so on, but I think I may try to make some kind of system for making alliances of some kind. I really don't want this to go all Game of Thrones on me but I do like the concept of teamwork so I'm not so sure. Maybe some AI creepers that come at you and the only way to beat them is to form teams.

Ok, I'm still sort of in limbo between the old SWGIO version and the newer https://silverwaregames.com site, so I've moved a working version of WTF to https://silverwaregames.com/wtf/I also am going to add some backend to the whole thing, I'm not a fan of that, but the first thing I'll do is add a hit counter so that I can track who is playing the thing, and I'll also ping the hit counter when people die with the score they got. Also, I plan to make the tower progression random, ala Vampire Survivor. That is, a basic tower shoots one bullet, but you can upgrade it rather than buying types of towers, and the upgrades have weird unforeseen synergies. Also also, I plan to make the bad guys a bit more intelligent: they will move away from OP towers as well as pathfind to make the best route to the end. Also, there will be two kinds of towers, water towers and land towers. This way, you can force the bad guys to take a certain path.

Hey, your game looks creative and sometimes interesting. Don't you used some ideas from MechStation screens?

Thanks! I don't know what MechStation is and when I google it, I don't find any meaningful results.

I'm learning a lot about people in this game:
I managed to get a few hundred hits to the game this round of visibility and of them only about 5 got to the end of the game. Most people got bored before getting killed.
So, I can design around that: people only play for a few minutes so something cool must happen in that time, you get a full game experience in just a bite sized play time. I'm more focused on longer plays but if the people want a quick play I can do that.
Anyway be sure to check out the latest version with high scores.

Scores clear every month. Towers can only be 5 layers tall. Better menu layout explaining what the menu is.

I've been stalled on this one for some reason. I know what to make but for some reason my heart isn't in it. The next big update is to make the game logic run on the server side instead of the client so that you cannot cheat. But there is something about the concept of killing more and more so called bad guys that makes me depressed. I've made an idyllic avatar here: But I plan to taint the falls with blood, fire, and wasted terrain: I don't know, I guess I can't get the music right while I work on it? Maybe dopey upbeat video game music isn't right. Maybe I should use some evil music: It seems like this game is evil... cursed, designed to unify forces that should be left alone. But doing that seems like the only path forward. Sigh.

Trying to think of ways to make the water more dynamic. Maybe it flows around rocks and actually does some flow calculations. In a lot of ways this game is like Xanadu: giant floating head narrator, trying to tame the natives... hmm Say hello to pixel Ryan btw.

So I think my block on this project is that the so called "fun" in my prototype is creating a killing machine that just grinds your enemies to paste in a trench warfare type setting. For some reason, as I add pathfinding to the bad guys it makes them "too real" to enjoy making some kind of "Final Solution" for these little critters that are just trying to get across the map. I could try to make it so that as you attack the baddies, they convert to being your friend, but that just seems cheap. Hitting a bad guy enough time captures them? It's a bit like pokemon but I don't like it. So, I'm thinking about making the game a car wash instead of a war thing. I'd rather do something with sexy car wash theme than a war theme.

I mean what's important is that you keep the initials the same, so we can still shorten it properly (Also damn, that's one hell of a pivot, theme-wise^^)

I'm now told that the image for WTF with the sexy swimsuit ladies, cheesecake, is not something a little girl should see.
I'm wondering if adding some buff dudes... beefcake... as it were, would make this a bit more PC?

Some pixel cars to play with: They're cute! Altough some of them read as pickups to me - especially the blue one, since it has red lights in the front^^ Unless they're all pickups, in which case they're perfect The most car-like is the one on the far right

maybe a bit of work on the front to read a bit more as headlights?
I'm also told the WTF text is hard to read too. Lol it never ends.
