[EDIT] The position has been filled

The game is Moonlight, a 2D adventure that takes place on a giant world-turtle floating through space, where cute animal-like characters are in over their head in a fight against invading alien parasites.  The setting aims to have a surreal vibe, but in a way that's intriguing rather than off-putting.  Basically it's Pokemon characters in a Metroid world.

For this position we're looking for someone who can help with the pixel art graphics, especially for tilesets and props used for constructing the scenes.  You'll work alongside other artists to create assets that match the game's existing style, examples of which are shown below.  Note that while backgrounds have an HD "painted" look, the foreground objects and characters are drawn with pixel art.

This is a paid contract position.  While we're interested in having a sprite artist on board as a full-time employee, we currently lack the resources to do so (though this is expected to change in several months).  Payment would be done over PayPal.

Artists of all race, gender, orientation and age are encouraged to apply.  We're also especially interested in developers that are willing to contribute their own ideas and flavor to the project.

If this position interests you, please contact me at mradocy @ gmail . com.  Thanks very much for your consideration!
