We've been working on this game for around 2 years, and while there is still quite a bit of work to go, I thought I'd go ahead and start sharing our progress with the TIG community, and we certainly appreciate any and all feedback!
We're building the game with Unity using a lot of custom tooling/systems on top of the editor. We've also used some tools from the asset store, but all art, music, etc is custom made by our team of 5 for the game.
Arctic Awakening is an episodic narrative adventure set in the unforgiving Arctic. Your plane crashed in a storm, leaving only your AI drone for company as you journey to find your co-pilot and uncover the dark mysteries buried beneath the ice. We're targeting a release on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox and PlayStation later this year.
While the story is one of survival, the game wouldn't really fit into that category. The game is all about the narrative while still giving the agency to explore and progress at your own pace. We've put a lot of focus on the weather and lighting systems, which is designed to make the environment a sort of character in the story. The gameplay is fully first-person and you can always see your body when looking down or your arms while performing actions/animations.
