Automaton Kingdom is a 2D Autochess puzzle game. It has two different phases, the edit phase and the play phase.

Introduction

In the edit phase, different characters can be placed in different areas of the map and you can customize many parameters such as direction to face, inventory, team, etc. You can also interact and edit some game objects directly by clicking on them in this phase. After completing the edit phase, the player can see the resolution of the game as the characters interact on their own with the level and with each other.

There will be many objectives such as reaching a final door, defeating all enemies, bring specific items, etc.

Game content:

For now we have 4 playable characters (2 more still in development), 9 different levels (many more are being currently developed), and 5 inventory items (2 more still in development).

We are creating content and elements that allow us to have a greater variety of puzzles.

The core gameplay of the game still needs some polish but it's developing nicely.

Here is a quick look of the Knight character.
He is a strong and heavy knight who breaks loose floors with the weight of his mount and armor.

Today we explain more about the Knight and what he can do.
Due to his weight, the Knight breaks fragile floors and he's not able to climb up the ladders.
He's also capable of breaking some obstacles if he carries a hammer!

This update was mostly to polish current content and improve the overall feedback !!

Also, some art has been improved, a new team system and battle system is currently being tested to implement it as soon as possible.

This week we plan to focus on presenting some mechanics and core gameplay

Each character acts in a certain way and fulfills a certain function. Properly combining the different abilities of the characters can result in a sequence of actions that solves the puzzle of the level. 

Players can drop certain characters on specific zones and configure them at will.

Today we will show you more basic mechanics and interface interactions.
Each character can have different behaviors with other objects, so it is important to be aware of these combinations.
You can also equip different items on each character.

For this Saturday we want to show a bit of a level and the different game mechanics used in it.
There are all types of levels, some are solved with different combinations of characters, others focus on exploring or properly using one character and its skills.

Interesting idea. Looks very difficult game already.

I once had a somewhat similar idea. The player was to plan routes and actions for a group of thieves in order to steal something and avoid guards. During the simulation phase, it was possible to pause at any point to change the actions (in expense that the guards might notice). That kind of pause-functionality could be utilized here also.

Thank you for your feedback and reaching out to us. While the concept of pausing the game seems interesting, it does not fully apply to the current concept of our game. Currently the player needs to anticipate to the behaviors of the characters in order to complete the levels. Pausing the game could remove the strategy planning phase and would also require too much time to implement (due to the current development state). Still, we will investigate this feature further.
Also, we are truly grateful that you found our project interesting and thanks again for sharing your ideas with us.

In this new update of the project, the team has focused on implementing new visual assets for many items and user interface elements in order to improve the overall feedback.

The combat and team systems have been implemented and we added many new obstacles, 2 more characters and a few items!

And now we show a comparison video where you can see some of the changes and art implemented.
