Hello There!
Ethereal Crusades is a project I've been working on with a small team for the last ~8 months. There have definitely been some challenges through this time and will more than likely continue.
The Story
The continent of Nidral is a highly magical society, free of the negative trappings of the Middle Ages, but with the flavor and feel of such. This would be wonderful if the reason for such advancement wasn’t the creation of Bastion Cities, as the only defense between them and their oppressive continent. Outside the walls of these unique cities is a constantly-shifting landscape, not constrained by the normal flow of time and space as it intersects freely with other planes of existence, forcing the terrain to modify itself with ghostly imprints of the realms they collide with, which form semi-permanent structures which can be explored freely.
Of course, the fact the landscape is capricious and continually modifying itself is a break in reality, and as such, creatures see to it that these places aren’t touched, and those touched by these places are removed as they’re a breach in the fabric of the world. The creatures that hunt down people and places created or moved from their homes are called “The Ethereals” and are relentless monsters that take many forms to destroy or otherwise wipe this continent out of influences.
Occasionally, during these dungeons being placed, people will be deposited as well, torn from their home dimension to this plane of existence. These people are called “Travelers”, and are especially hunted down. You are a traveler, who was teleported to the city of Nalthral though the use of a powerful teleportation circle, meant to house and place people who need refuge from this dimension more than others. Due to this, you’ve been conscripted to fight the Ethereals, defend the city form nigh-constant attacks, and if you choose to, explore the continent of Nidral for loot, glory, and perhaps passage home.
Programming
Currently we are working on getting the basics of combat/movement smoothed out. One of the challenges we have faced is creating a system in unity to equip and unequip items visually as you play.
there are quite a few features that we have already implemented and some that are there but need to be revamped to stay with the direction the game is going.
I plan to update here at least once a week. Hope you all enjoy and give any feedback you feel is worth sharing! It is all appreciated.
