Hello everyone!  We wanted to start finally showing our game Polestar after so much work.  We really wanted to put a heavy focus on our art style, and consolidating the gameplay to as much of a pure experience as possible.

Development Engine: Unity

Target Platforms: Windows PC, Linux

Website: https://melodythree.com

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2132220/Polestar/

World Overview: Saloons, Locomotives, Wanted Posters and Stoats. Polestar is a world overlooking a precipice of change. From cowtowns like Haevstock, looking back on it’s golden years with mournful eyes, to Beckbrum, a dazzling city filled with new technology and illicit undetones – There’s plenty of room for misadventure.

Overview:
  • Hand Drawn Environments
  • Hand Animated Characters
  • Multiple Cities and Dungeons to Explore
  • Turn Based Battle with A Heavy Focus on Equipment Synthesis and Desenthesis
  • Multiple shops and Locals to engage with
  • A Wide Variety of Party Members

If you guys have any questions on the development or tools used, please don't hesitate as we're super excited to discuss.  Thank you!

Also like the style a lot, looking forward to see more! It is just a minor thing, but I was confused when I saw the 5 trailers on your Steam page to find out they are like GIFs of individual scenes. I'd suggest to edit them together to one short teaser.

Yeah, we totally understand that the steam page will need to be continuously updated.  We really wanted to show the game in motion while we were still proceeding with development.  We're still hammering out some bits on the trailer, but are hoping to have one sometime soon.

Thanks for the feedback!

We've made some major improvements to the battle system, we're really looking to focus on character based interactions within the battle system with the following:

  • Disruption of Enemy and Player timing with various attacks
  • Timed Hits and Timed Defenses
  • Character Abilities
  • Timing visualization from all battle actors

Enemy Ai is driven by a node base system using XNode so we can quickly create enemy Behaviors.

You can see it all in motion here: https://imgur.com/hTcr6pn.  There's still a lot of work to be done, but we're making steady progress!

If you guys have any Any thoughts or suggestions on the UI or overall flow, don't hesitate to chime in!

Exceptionally vivid graphics. Stylized graphics usually look quite static, but this feels very alive as there is lots of subtle movement around.

And that transition effect to battle is cool.

Working on the UI design, still have a lot to work on, but figured I would share the type of "flow" we're looking to accomplish.

If you'd like to see it in motion, there's a short overview here: https://i.imgur.com/CntPvUA.mp4

What do you guys think?
