Update 0.12-alpha

Your art style looks fantastic, like illustrations from a book come to life.

thanks friend! :D maybe it looks like a book because the sprites are drawn in pencil? My previous game Arena might be even more up your alley if you like this style https://store.steampowered.com/app/1291530/Arena/ - I was more ambitious with the art in that one, it's painted with acrylic.

damn! I have been really busy lately. I was in total grind mode for like 2 months with my job (working on Hometopia) - but now I finally have some free time again to work on my baby, lil guys.

Updates
1. I added the ability to save and load things! This includes the campaign as well as ship designs. That took a while.
2. I added a special ship blueprint builder mode (had a lot of fun making the shader) that allows you to design ships without worrying about resources. Then, when you are in game and want to create a new ship - you can start from scratch, or choose from one of your blueprint designs. This mode also allows me to design all of the base ships that will appear in the game.

Hey everyone! I'm still working on alpha V0.14 so I haven't uploaded a new build to itch.io yet - but I wanted to share some screenshots of my progress so far.

Galaxy Map Updates
I've updated the galaxy map so that the space stations you create can be seen orbiting in their solar system. I also made a hexagon grid shader that I'm eventually going to use to show territory / borders.

New Menu
I added a new menu that will be used for a lot of coming features. So far I've added a market system that allows you to sell and buy resources. Each solar system has it's own market, and prices fluctuate according to supply and demand.

Advisors
I added an advisor system to provide you with hints as you play. So far I've added an economic advisor who provides advice about which market to sell resources in for the best price. I've also added a combat advisor who recommends how to better protect your space station.

Ship Market
In my previous post I showed off a bit of the new ship blueprint builder that allows you to create and save blueprints of your ships for later use. Now, when you enter a solar system where you do not have an existing ship - you are given the option of creating a new ship from a blueprint. The price of building a ship from a blueprint varies from solar system to solar system as the price is calculated by determining the resources required to build the space station, and their cost in the solar system's market.

NPC ships
I added the ability to spawn NPC ships from blueprints, and I updated the combat system to allow for big space battles.

Starfighters
I wanted there to be a way for the player to turn the tides of an unlikely battle, so I added starfighters (which the player can control). Even if you choose not to fly the starfighter, they're fun to watch. I plan on adding a bomber that will be a threat to your space station / ship.

NAME CHANGE
There is another "lil guys" game out right now that is more popular than mine so I've decided to change the name of my game to "BACK TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE"

This is really cool. I like the sense of progression, from a single circular "map" to a grid of them later on.
