Hello guys! I will share my painting game, okay?

The idea is to make a little game where the player paints over an underpainting (sketch, but with paint instead of pencil) with various colors.

I've finished the prototype and wanted to show you guys!

based on what you have here, I would probably just mash the brush around for 20 seconds and then call it a day. What actual game structures are you adding to make the painting more enjoyable?

Hey! I had an idea of putting little blobs for the player do paint over and "kill" just to make it a game. When the player kills them they recieve new colors to play with Smiley

I guess as someone who enjoys drawing, and having done thousands of them, what really got me interested in the drawing process was being able to express myself freely and being good enough at getting my ideas down on paper that I was proud of the work. I'm not so sure that scribbling on top of some masterpiece is going to give me the feelings that drawing irl does.

I'd love a game that is as much fun as drawing a doodle, but to me the fun is in the freedom. Obviously you don't want to be so free you don't care, and you don't want to be so strict its not fun, but getting to that place where you can be delighted by what you produce on a canvas as you are making it is ... well ... art.

Thank you for the feedback! To be honest that was my original idea, but my friends said that it was going to compete against other painting programs haha

But I am brainstorming how to make it fun and a real game, and you gave me a starting point thanks!

my own belief is that its not something to worry about, competing with other games, if you are doing your own thing and making it your own personal idea then its difficult to be the same as everyone else.
