The Siege of $world
Ashes of $place: Eternal War

You get the idea.

Providing a bit of story context – rather than just game mechanics or genre – can go a long way toward finding a name that suits both.

yeh, fact is that I only designed the mechanics so far.
The story attempt something like "centuries ago Earth founded distant colonies losing any contact with them; now Earth turned evil and wants to conquer its colonies (you) back".

It's important to have colonies because it will have a central hub from which you can start different random games from scratch; each game being a different planet Smiley

So, the game is very sandbox-oriented but yeah, maybe something better will come out with some background in place Durr...?

This doesn't sound much like what you originally described – an infinite map of distinct regions to be conquered.

If Earth's the bad guy, are you defending against an invasion or rebelling/reclaiming territory already in Earth's control? The righteous defender/plucky rebel positioning also opens doors for name ideas.

It goes like Hub -> Planet -> Regions, you can see each planet as a procedurally generated map made of regions, and you can have as many planets as you want.

Each planet campaign should start in a state where enemies already own a few provinces and expand from there on neutral ones, just like you.
But in fact the defender/attacker situation is worth some thought... I think this is what goals are for.
An "Attack Goal" could ask you to reclaim conquered territory, while a "defense goal" has you defending a vast friendly territory from ie- orbital drops.

As for the name yeah, you are definitely the righteous rebel.

Enemy: Earth
Alien Earth (I could like this one)
Iron Earth (by the sudden insertion of earth's robot overlords)
Metal Earth (as before)

Hello fellow Tigsourcers! I have been working on a game, which you can find here, which I am developing in my spare time.

It is a village simulator, akin to The Settlers, especially the first one. The game features a simulation of villagers, buildings, animals and resources. The game also features terrain modifications, somewhat complex AI and catastrophes.
The goal of the game is managing the growth of the village, researching new buildings and assigning jobs, making sure everyone is happy and healthy.
The game will however feature many of the problems of the dark ages, such as famine, corruption and pandemics, in addition to natural disasters. Basically, the game will not be an idilliac "happy village simulation"!

I am however not happy with the name: Pipo, which is the noun for referring to the villagers. It is pronounced "pee-pou" and, altought it looks like it comes from "people", it actually comes from the (somewhat) italian word "pippotto", which should mean "small dude" in some parts of Italy (for example, here!).

Do you have any ideas for the name of the game? I'd like to stick with something in regard to the villagers, so some variation on "Townfolk", "Villager", "Paesant" would be welcome, altouth none of these still convince me!!!!

Why are their neutral territories? They're being invaded by hostile Earthians. The entire planet should be on your side if you're defending them from Earth.

"Idlewild" immediately came to mind, though I don't know why. It doesn't suit your people-centric naming preference though...

Hmm, that's a good point... but I don't want at all to give everything upfront to the player because of the setting. I definitely want the player to have a progression from two-regions-crappy-infantry to empire-with-awesome-tanks.
And to do this you need to conquer your neighbours.
I think I'll go with the "the're neutral because the're unhabited because colonies are new" explanation.

Shouldn't that be "Indiana Jones the First". I'm pretty sure his surname would be taken from his family and so also be "Jones", unless perhaps all dogs are surnamed "Bones".

Hello,

We are currently looking for a name for our first iOS & Android game because we are getting tired of calling it run run game or Project x/run/y/whatever Smiley

Our game is a sidescroller  / endless runing game ( without the endless part ) set in a cartoon heroic fantasy world. The main hero is a knight trying to get his princess back. There's a lot of twist in the story but I wont go into to much details just now. He will have to complete 50+ levels in multiple environment and defeat several bosses to get her back.

The hero can run, attack from a distance, slash enemy and jump. In each level there is several QTEs for boss battle, big cut scene, etc.

This is our hero ( animated version here )

Right now, on our name shortlist we've got:

- Once Upon a Run
- RunQuest
- A Run To The Past
- Running Crusade
- Another Castle
- Castle Runner

Dashing Heroics or The Dashing Knight ('dashing' as in running AND energetic/gallant)

(I love double meanings in titles.)

Bonus points for the timelapse drawing video, I love watching those.
