Hi there,

I've just started working on some urge I had to do a space travel themed game. I'm trying Game Maker, and I'm gonna do everything myself.

The game will be a short exploration/adventure (probably just a few minutes of gameplay, but I hope different endings), and it's called (for now) Dead Planet.

I've choosen to be in 192x108 (16/9! :D) for a lo-fi/retro feel, but not to necessarily limit myself in terms of number of colors and effects.

Here's how it's gonna look (be indulgent, I'm a composer)

Cosmonaut happy (or "fabulous"?) run cycle!

Will be slower, need to feel more the low-gravity.

Jetpack action !

Here's a research of how it would sound like, I want everything to be super moody:

Also, I would be interesting in knowing if everything is too dark for your screens or if it's fine. I wanted to feel like it's really dark on this strange dead planet, but maybe it lacks clarity.

It was! Thanks, it's now fixed.

I'm really drunk right now, ate just a melon a barely some tuna at lunch, and colleagues stuffed me with beer a while earlier... Smiley

That screen looks really nice !
Also liked a lot the cosmonaut happy cycle !
And a short exploration platform in a weird planet with different ends can't be wrong !
Keep up the good work !

also check my first game if you've some time
it's a short platform with several endings too  Smiley
and it's also everything made with Game Maker and selfmade art

Ha, coincidentally that's exactly the same resolution I chose for my current project. 192x108 users unite!

This looks really alluring. I like the .ogg you posted. If you can get your sound effects to work with that sort of soundscape harmoniously, it will be a very atmospheric game indeed. I quite like the picture you posted as well. It's very desolate. You might not think of yourself as primarily a visual artist, but I think it looks quite nice.

Also, I would be interesting in knowing if everything is too dark for your screens or if it's fine. I wanted to feel like it's really dark on this strange dead planet, but maybe it lacks clarity.
I think everything reads very clearly. It might be a tad too dark if it's 1x in a window, but I think it will be fine if it's larger or full screen.

I can't really see much. My screen is kinda old and doesn't handle dark stuff well. It needs to be recalibrated.
