This is the key art we’re using.

In the summer before their junior year of high school, five teenagers are sent to a spiritual retreat in the midwestern woods. They accidentally activate a computer terminal that shows them their past and future. The terminal puts voices in their heads and starts giving them tasks, severly punishing them for disobedience. Their attempts to change their future appear futile, until they start working together. The terminal fights them, threatening an even worse fate and empowering the voices in their heads.

They form bonds, tackle personal challenges, and gather resources and clues to finally change their fate. Their efforts are aided by the camp's untrustworthy owner, a lively counselor, and a quirky medium. The story culminates when the kids confront their future selves, having to make a crucial, soul-defining choice.

We're intermixing three themes: rural cozy (twin peaks, gravity falls, firewatch), uncanny reality (lain, twin peaks), young punk romance (BECK, breakfast club). The game visual design alludes to experimental cinema of the 90s, internet of 00s, funny ergonomics of the 00s product design.

We want to finish the game before summer time. This week we hope to be fully done with the pre-production. As I was writing this entry, we had a call with the narrative lead deciding to murder a huge chunk of the story which makes the target actually doable. Summertime is not the ideal release time for a game of the type, I would prefer fall. But oh what can you do.

DT is currently a team of two people working full time on story and production, and about six members handling everything else at different levels of involvement. The team is scattered across the world with people in the US, Europe, Middle East and Japan (art).
