What's New?:
    New Stuff:
Added an intro cutscene that plays when starting the game.
Designed and implemented a large level set in a city with more complex platforming.
Added sparks that increase in frequncy when lightning is about to strike
Added a new type of platform: bouncy platforms in the shape of cafe canopies.
Added a coin/life system where collected coins adds to the number of lives the player has.
Added new background and foreground sprites for the city level
Added a "Soak Meter" that increases when the player does not keep their umbrella up and "kills" the player when full.

    Adjusted Stuff:

Fixed the tree platforming level to make traversal feel more smooth.
Darkened the vignette that occurs when lightning is about to strike.
Tweaked the first level to remove the lightning mechanic
Tweaked the way the umbrella interacts with the player to add more dynamic movement.
Improved the start screen UI

What’s the Motivation?:
Our motivations behind these changes are due to our team realizing that our game was lacking interesting decisions. Our tutorial levels in the beginning were too simple and did not challenge the player enough both in terms of thinking and skill. Some of the controls were clunky and weren't intuitive to learn. We added the new content with the game's theme in mind, where the main character is late for a job interview, so they must rush over to the office building while keeping their suit clean in the rain. With the new large level and other adjustments, we hope that the player will be able to experience the game mechanics in a more smooth and fun way.

What’s Next?:
The new mechanics, features, and levels were also added with the game's future development in mind. We plan to add more to the large city level by adding a third section where the player must travel up rather than right as they scale a skyscraper with more challenging platforming. We also hope to add more theming and juice to the game with sound effects, more cutscenes, and more animations for game objects.

Maybe introduce people to your game before making a list of things you did to it.

What's New?:
1. Fine tuned our controls by making them more intuitive and supportive for different play styles.
2. Expanded our second level by adding on an extra zone that builds up to the final skyscraper level.
3. Designed and implemented a challenging final skyscraper level that combines all of the mechanics they have encountered so far and brings the story to a close.
4. Balanced audio and added more sound effects.
5. Polished our game by smoothing out transitions and adding a custom font and custom UI panels.

What's the Motivation?:
Some of the feedback we got was around how the controls still felt a little clunky, especially for arrow key users, which led us to work on and optimize the controls. We also wanted to add more personality to the game by adding custom fonts and custom UI panels to help with our overall visual design. We adjusted the audio design by balancing the audio levels and adding more sound effects to better convey the state of the game. Finally, we wanted to bring the story introduced in the beginning of the game to a conclusion by making a difficult level that the players would have to master the mechanics to complete, therefore creating a sense of achievement and accomplishment.

What's Next?:
We want to continue working on audio design in the game in order to create a more immersive environment. We are currently working on making custom background music for the game and also want to add audio to the cutscenes that we have. We are working on another cutscene for the end of the game, which will add a conclusion to the  game's story. Lastly, we will be focusing on smoothing out the overall game experience to make it as fun and engaging as possible.

Play Online: https://umbrellaheroes.itch.io/rainy-day-rush

What's New?:
  • Added an easy mode with extra coins and also made some coins respawn.
  • New ending sequence to the game. Play it to the end to find out!
  • Fixed a lot of bugs, specifically focused on smoothing the overall movement system.
  • Many new sound effects and music!
  • Polished our game further by decreasing the amount of awkward platforming and fixing technical issues.

What's the Motivation?: During our last playtest, we noticed that a few players were struggling with some sections which was leading them to game over frequently, this inspired us to create an easy mode for the game which is a lot more lenient towards the player. We wanted to focus on making the experience as smooth as possible which is why we spent a lot of time polishing the game. Furthermore, we wanted to add more to the ending of the game to make it more engaging and narratively driven. Last but not least, one of the main pieces of feedback we got was that our game was too quiet and that there should be more audio. Considering this, we focused on adding a lot more sound effects and also added fitting music to all of our levels

What's Next?: You decide! Rainy Day Rush is out available to play. We welcome any feedback!
