I've long wanted to turn the text string "Sea Waves" into actual sea waves. Do you think it turned out well? This is my new game, Effulgence Explore a mysterious world brought to life through text symbols. The game now has a Steam page. Check it out and add it to your wishlist if you like the style. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3302080/Effulgence/

With just checking the video: no? what is this about? What gameplay do I get? You're not sticking to the letter grid of an actual terminal, you're just using ascii chars instead of graphics. So you intentionally shittied your graphics without actually trying to capture a certain aesthetics. And on top of it your trailer is meaningless. A nice little graphics experiment, but there's no point in being on Steam.
Maybe I simply don't understand.

The aesthetics of ASCII graphics, though niche, definitely attract many players. For example, you can check out the game Stone Story RPG. It's available on Steam.

Heh while I don't outright support the not-on-the-grid thing, I've gota say, looking at your other videos, this game seems pretty funky to be honest - I like the graphics style in a weird sort of way; it's definitely a unique stylistic choice.
But yea, I suspect it's probably going to face resistance both from those seeking graphics, and those seeking nostalgic reproduction, so I'm not sure who the playerbase would be, but I sure hope there are people out there who can see and appreciate the work though, because it's still technically impressive either way.

A tree swaying in the wind for the main menu, entirely created from text symbols. The options include three levels of symbol brightness. Is there one you like? If you like the style, visit the game's Steam page to wishlist and/or sign up for playtest: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3302080/Effulgence/

Created an inventory screen. Items are printed on a printer using resources, as are mechanisms and pets. There are three types of currency, and even characters themselves can be printed. I'm considering making it possible to print the printer itself. Each character has several experience counters. For example, throwing grenades increases throwing experience. Once it reaches certain thresholds, you can upgrade throwing skills (at special locations), improving accuracy. Check out the project page on Steam and add it to your wishlist if you like the style: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3302080/Effulgence/Happy New Year, by the way! Got a bit too caught up in work.

I'm myself crazy about nontraditional approaches in indie dev, so I definitely like the art style. It's both unique and nice. I can imagine getting hooked to it also as a player if gameplay is right as well. From the looks, there's definitely great appeal.
From my personal point of view, last time I saw such strong nontraditional appeal was with Return of the Obra Dinn, which is very high benchmark. (but except from Tig, I don't follow new indie releases very much due to lack of free time, so my knowledge of such nontraditional styled games can be limited)

WOW. That is indeed a visual style I've never seen before. This looks very interesting, although from the gameplay videos it's difficult to understand what the game might be like.

I think this is an amazing artstyle and I look forward to seeing more! It's definitely original and the fact you don't stay within the "traditional" rules is a strength of the style, not a detractor.

The equipment/mechanism printing screen to inventory can be operated with a gamepad (+Steam Deck) – currently testing. To print an item, you need its schematic and enough resources. Some mechanism schematics have duplication protection – you can only print one copy for yourself. However, there are places where this protection can be hacked. Just some ideas for my game Effulgence, made entirely from 95 text symbols. Smugglers' Glade in Effulgence, a game entirely made of text symbols. Here, you can buy essentials and pick up quests in any of the four huts. Check out the project page on Steam and add it to your wishlist if you like the style: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3302080/Effulgence/

Created a location “The Chill and Skill” for my text-symbol game Effulgence. Staying there slowly restores HP. Check into the hotel for an instant 100% HP recovery. All objects in the game are fragile shells barely containing the chaos of text symbols, so full recovery means breakdown & reassembly. If you like the style, visit the game's Steam page to wishlist and sign up for playtest: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3302080/Effulgence/

Andrei your game is looking great. 10/10 for visuals. "see wave" reminds me of some Action Script space shooter.
