Ludum Dare is a biannual 48 hour solo from-scratch game development competition.  The tenth one is coming up now in December!  I've participated in some past ones, and it's great fun.  Come join! Smiley

Dec. 7-14th - Registration and Theme Voting
Compo:  Dec. 14 at 7pm PST - 16th at 7pm PST - see start in your timezone
(that's Dec 15 at 03:00 - Dec 17 03:00 GMT)

It's bit of a problematic weekend for me, but I think I could fit this in to my schedule... I'd get my monthly game done.

Yeah, you're totally expected to sleep.  Some of us did the no sleep thang in the original 24 our compo, but it's more bragging rights than actually useful.

I might not be the best person to give advice on this, but yeah, sleep is definitely recommended.  You'll probably work much better when refreshed than when bone tired, better quality in less time.  Also, sleep means being away from your game for a little while, giving you a fresh perspective when you return.  Dreams can also be useful for expanding on ideas and giving you new ones.  Also remember to eat and drink, and get some fresh air once in a while Smiley

Ah, but of course, my parents were complete jerks and they didn't understand... Sigh... I guess I won't be able to enter this one, or if I do, I'll have a huge headache... What's so wrong about spending 40 of 48 hours up and coding? It's not like I haven't done it before... Sad

Looks like it's now down to just ten themes:

   AI Opponent
   Aquarium
   Architecture
   Chain Reaction
   Colonization
   Evolution
   Flight
   Flood
   Reverse time
   Time travel

I'm still not quite sure if I'm taking part or not. All depends on whether or not I like the final theme, I guess.

Just a little update on this..  The compo is over (has been over for a few days now..), with more than 50 finished entries.  Voting is now in progress, for the next two weeks Smiley  (Only people who finished an entry can vote.)

It's a bit difficult to find all the final entries for non-participants currently since Wordpress can't mix categories and tags apparently, but hopefully that'll get better when the voting period is over (or look for posts here marked with the 'final' tag).
