Hi again : ) After my super hard game Drypoint, I started planning a new game called GurinMame. Instead of being "super-hard" it's aiming toward "super-confusing" instead. You are a small cube thingy and you walk around a port/dock/palace kind of world in search of little wasabi green peas. It's FILLED with NPCs and there is absolutely no text in the game. All the AIs speaks with strange pictograms and icons. The game is all comfy in this minimal sugar coated atmosphere. It is aimed to be release on ipod/iphone for free. I will have playable builds for mac / pc around here in the meantime, well same system as with Drypoint. Some screenshots to appear here soon ! This will be the dev tread for now : 3..

Sounds fantastic. Hopefully this will be just as beautiful as Drypoint, if not more.
iPod+iPhone support is nice. Drypoint would be cool too but I doubt there is anyway you could get the controls even remotely playable without buttons. Its hard enough on a desktop. :P

I had a similar idea once. I was playing through an RPG which hadn't been localized, and I thought it might be fun to make a game where the text was all in some alien language no one could read...
I don't know about deliberately confusing people, but the text idea appeals to me.

Would you ever be able to understand the text, eventually? or would it actually be gibberish?

I think keeping it gibberish is better; I like how you push the player's buttons in ways they don't normally like, but doing it correctly makes a certain appeal. Definitely watching this!

I liked Drypoint, and "Super-Confusing" can be cool if done right. I'm looking forward to this game.

After Drypoint I am a big fan. And the doodles up top are utterly adorable. Hope you can achieve a look as close as possible to this.
Will the pictograms form an actual language. I ask this because I can see myself whiling away many hours deciphering it.

To answer all the questions about the pictograms, here is the semantics of the language. you will need the font support to properly view the page tho. Here is a preview of the symbols. Even tho these symbols will be present, it will be filled with icons, so you don't need to understand the symbols to find your way around Thanks everyone for your interest ^__^ ! I will post some more when I come back home. and also an abstract on the game design.

Ah it is that. I was hoping they would be related as I found that really interesting so I am glad there will be a context in which I can attempt to understand it.

Oh man. I just connected the dots and realized who you were. Isopharmacy is one of my favorite blogs ever; I've seen some of your work over there. It's really inspiring to know you're doing indie games now. I can't wait to see more progress.
