Perplex City is an Alternate Reality Game (think of The Beast or I Love Bees). And it's first 'season' recently ended. And without warning, season 2 just started. Not officially.

A girl in a YouTube video... The big deal? The girl is a 'fictional' character that we've (the players) have been talking to and following for about a year. But we've only had static pictures, and even then they were drawings, and her blog and emails. So a full fledged in the flesh video... It's like Curly from Cave Story suddenly being on the news.

Anyways, figured I'd just sound the alarm here that it's getting started if anything ever heard of it, now is a good time to jump in.

...I'll go away now.

I've heard of Perplex City. Were you involved in the first season? The concept of an ARG has always appealed to me but I know that I'll never be able to invest enough time into one to get anything out of it.

Also: that video filled my "hokey" allotment for the week.

SPOILER: Violet is the killer. Just you wait and see.

I got involved towards the end of Season 1. And yes... we (the players) know the acting isn't award winning. At the same time, I'm certain if Kenta Cho or Pixel made a real life movie to accompany one of their games, it wouldn't be silver screen ready either.

It's a big deal that they (Mind Candy) are even attempting video, as opposed to the normal, emails, blogs, or when an ARG is daring a voice clip or broadcast.

If you've never heard of an ARG or been interested in one, this is a great time to start. PCX is very friendly, and has a huge emphasis on working together. Go to unfiction.com for more info on ARG's in general, and the PCX thread on their forums is what I've find to be as THE hub for players and game progression.

I'll be trying to chronicle my whole experience for Season 2 in my blog, to serve as both a kind of scrap book for the season, but also to hopefully serve as a guide for people just getting into it, as I'm a bit of a neophyte myself.
