Well, he says he'll never use them, so I think it could be considered for the compo. Maybe. He should make some new stuff as well though.

I'll be doing some more too so it's all good. Items/icons/font what else does a rogue-like need?

Hmm maybe a few spell effects and damage splashes (little things overlayed on entities being attacked for non-spell attacks) might be nice, but it looks pretty solid for the most part.
Also maybe some castle floor/wall tiles?

This MUST be made into a RL, it is what it deserves.

A trap-door or some partially broken floor tiles would also help for roguelikes or games with multi-floor dungeons.

You definitely need to keep going with this, I'd even be willing to help (i've done a bunch of RL tiles in the past, I did the sprites for Castlevania RL ) - A variety of dungeon tiles, items, effects, etc - should go super quick this 'lo-fi'!

Nice stuff! I think it could use some more enemies, though.

Dang this works getting a lot of attention... I read about a game called 3D Dot Heroes last night and thought I'd have ago at generating similar graphics from this sprite sheet. Here's a really early shot... it's rough as a badgers arse as I'm no openGL pro and it was my first quick bash at the code to generate the 3D model from the 2D image. (The first archer sprite, generated from the sprite sheet) Hopefully I get time to build a game round this for the compo.... Does using art assets provided in part 1 to generate other assets qualify for part 2? or do i need to use them directly?
