Hello this is Pencerkoff

Can you draw up a few mouth positions that can be laid over those portraits.  That way they could become a cut-scene where they are talking or something.  Eyebrows too.

I've got a couple, but I'll make some more and put them in a sprite sheet.

What would be best?

1) Complete body for every face (big but positioning will be correct)
2) Every different expression cropped to just the face area (smaller w/ correct positioning)
3) Each expression piece as a seperate png file (each will need to be properly positioned by you)

Did you just draw Starsky and Hutch?

Btw, I could make a model for this ship since it's so great, but i would need the bottom, can you draw one?

I was just thinking of a png of a bunch of mouth positions that can be placed as the programmer would want.  They can have a transparent background, so it'll work on any face.

I liked the old jets more. But for real use you'd need no jets, all jets and either side jets. The first rocket is my favouritest though.

Ok, I made a model for you, texture mapping is a pain and I didn't do a good job, so it's no good for close-ups (unless some quick ones). I may toy with it later on and improve the mapping.

The renders look a bit different from what they're supposed to, since they've been shot with lighting on, and since the ship is already shaded, it looks a bit awkward.

Shot from Wings 3d (made model with that)

Shot from Milkshape 3d (mapped with that)

Simple shading give better effects:

Model: ~1500 poly, 512x256 texture, ms3d+obj

Milkshape has some issues exporting stuff, so i suggest using the ms3d model. Or a converter.

EDIT:
I burnt the texture a bit to make it look like on the gif. That hides mapping flaws, but itn't as detailed as the original drawing.

Ah, I didn't know you were using it as a texture.  I'll upload some without the shading.

Also, I had imagined the center column of the ship to be higher than the sides.  Here is a really rough sketch of the side.

Your simple shading model looks really cool.

Here is the texture with no shadows.  A PNG with transparency is HERE.

Your 3D model looks great by the way Smiley

@Melly
Thanks Smiley I want to make a ton more, but I'm on vacation now through the Part I deadline  Concerned so I probably won't be able to.  I'll try to get the different face positions done at the very least.

Nice, there are kind of some similarities.  I want to try some of your roguelike demakes.  I just voted for a ContraRL (the first level is so iconic it would be awesome)

Here is the pilot with different expressions.  Sorry for the jaggy edges, it was intended to be high res.

The high res psd file is better and you can get it HERE.  The below sprite sheet should work, though, if you don't have photoshop and are using GM.

This is the last thing I'll be able to make before the deadline.  Final version of the Brawler (open and closed mouth textures):

Just made a blog post about my process for making the space ships.  Thought it could be helpful here, too:

EDIT: I moved this to the art section since the Assemblee leech viewer was pulling images that didn't belong in the compo.  Find it here.

Yo, I used this model in a Unity tutorial: http://infiniteammo.ca/schpooter/

If the credits need to be changed in any way, let me know! Thanks.  Beer!
