I've got an idea for a somethingelse-like for these beauties I'm almost intimidated by the number of monsters... but not quite! You don't have to use them all! In fact you probably shouldn't - I've purposefully supplied extra stuff like soldiers and explorers etc

(and any other disjoint sets for that matter)

I am going to be nice and not seriously ask for what my heart desire. A indexed color version. So color manipulation for different parts of the characters could be done easy from code. ^^

That's not unreasonable - depending on what you're looking for. Does just indexing the whole sprite sheet to 256 colors do what you need? Can you modify those colors on a per sprite basis or do you want specific universal palette entries for SHIRT/PANTS/SKIN for each creature?

Those graphics are gorgeous, I can't wait to see what people will come up with using all of this. This compo was a great idea.

I think these are the greatest things. Can you provide a zip file with transparent pngs instead of the teal background?

Tere, Please forgive me if this has already been brought up.. May I suggest offering your very pretty pictures in a more lightweight file format? PNG format is very good, but it can be offputting to have to use a set of fairly large software libraries just load PNGs. My personal bias is for the TGA format as it is easy to implement by oneself. This could be a good thing for those who wish to learn a more advanced programming language, like C or C++ or D. For those interested in learning more about how to use the format, you can go here: http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbourke/dataformats/tga/Anyone interested in this nice little format should be aware (as I do not think that article meantions it) that TGA format stores RGBA data as BRGA. I apologise for being so winded.

I just wanted to stop by and say that this sprite set is awesome. I love all the little dudes, and the colors are great. They would make great cereal marshmallow designs

If I could make a request...
Hats. Little 4x4 (or thereabouts) hats I can slap on these characters for my own nefarious purposes.
Team Cowboy vs Team Tophat - much more fun than team recolors.

I would assume that people who use these would be able to convert them into any format they wish pretty easily? Using something like http://www.imageconverterplus.com?
