This was begun as a game for pyweek 9 (the theme was 'feather').
In a nutshell, it's a vertical scroller based entirely on speed and avoidance.
The original (horribly executed and poorly balanced) entry is here:
http://pyweek.org/e/hh-st-collab/So I've now been refining the game somewhat. Lately, trying to tune the relative speeds of everything so it's not migraine inducing like the original. A few (two) very simple mechanics are planned for the final product, which will hopefully be an completed entry in the Pyggy awards at the end of November.
http://pyggy.pyweek.org/I just implemented the tilting animation for the player bird today with art I got from my artist last week....
So the game now looks like this:
I'm waiting on new art for everything else... *cough*
So.
I'm making a devlog here in an effort to motivate myself to finish this game.
It's brainlessly simple. It's not groundbreaking. It's not got very much polish.
I made the original in about 12 hours over 2 days.
I just want to complete something before I start moving on to bigger things.
This is my 'make pong/breakout/space invaders' game. (Actually I made a space invaders clone before this, but.)
You can get the latest version here:
http://media.pyweek.org/dl/1009/hh-st-collab9/tfi.zipFly side to side. Collect feathers to go faster. Avoid balloons.
Should work now on Windows and Linux. (untested on MacOSX [but I'd love any info on that if people try it])
Requires Python 2.6 and pygame 1.9.1.
