Thanks everyone!  I'm so thankful to finally have these, it's amazing how much they improve the dialogue.  I worked on some sketches for Sophie and Liele tonight at dinner, so hopefully soon the girls' faces will be up there too (does anyone else like drawing on napkins?).  But for now, here is Dolby's animation test:



@Konidias: Thanks so much for saying that ^_^  As Paul mentioned, I actually didn't enter Melolune into the IGF this year.  Even though I made a significant amount of progress, I didn't have time to close it all up into a playable game so I thought it best to wait until next year to submit again (so it would be all finished).

@PsySal: Hey, how is Texas going??  Did you finish it?  I really want to play it again whenever it's ready!

I am *days* away =) Not finished yet, though. Basically I'm tying everything together, filling in holes. Once finished though, I need to really run it through the wringer of user testing, so "finished" is not really finished after all =)

I think I might start going to the South Bay Game Jams so that I can have a set amount of time to really focus on the game.  I've been pretty distracted lately, so when I sit down to work on Melolune I only get an hour or two in at a time... but GDC really motivated me to get back on track again to finish up the game's music (which is the biggest roadblock for me right now, hehe).

Thanks Andy!  It's pretty close to being done, but I feel like it's still going to take a while... I keep discovering all these things I need to add or change.  There's really only one more area to do, but I have to add more side-quests, rebalance everything with the new content, go back and fix certain things (one of the most critical points in the game feels really anti-climactic because of how it's set up, and one of the boss battles will break if you kill the enemies in a particular order, haha >_<), and of course there's a lot of missing music.  But I'm feeling hopeful because I didn't expect to get this far!  I'm up to about 15 playable hours + the side stuff.

Oh, and I was actually just emailing you back because OMG YOUR MUSIC IS AWESOME.  More sugar Mr. T-Rex?  Here comes the bear!

Ah, I'll have to meet you at another game jam then!  We're hoping to check out Dan's biweekly one at some point, especially since it's so close.  It'll be nice to have a whole day to just devote to working on my game!  Do you ever go to those?

I've been slammed at the day job for the last few months (we just launched last week), so I haven't been able to make it. Now that things seem to be calming down I'm planning on attending (probably this week even). So maybe we'll coincide at one of them Smiley

@Davioware: Thank-you for listening.  I'm glad that you gleaned the "I'm going to make it" feeling from that part of the track, since that's exactly what I was going for ^_^  To answer your question, the instrument at 0:57 is actually part of an industrial sound kit from Roland Groove Synth.  I really like that sample because it actually sounds like a miner hitting something with his pick axe.
