I made a completely original and groundbreaking new game called Left 4k Dead 2. It's the sequel to Left 4k Dead, and has slightly different graphics!

You can play it here: http://gamejolt.com/online/games/action/left-4k-dead-2/1006/

(oooh, burn!)

Oh, I remember this game! It's awesome!  Evil

But this time I'll also remember who made it.

But this is a completely different game from that one! Honest!

Also, it's satire. Wink

I love the whole darkness thing. I remember loving the whole darkness thing in the original too.

Is this a satire of sequelitis in general or l4d2 specifically. Because I for one am pretty impressed with how different l4d2 feels.

I think it's a satire of the whole boycott debate. Maybe.

Satire isn't good satire when you don't know what it's satire of. I think.

I'm glad you have other projects going at the same time as minecraft, you always develop quality fun stuff Hand Metal Left

I got to level two on my msi wind laptop, not the greatest platform but I'll try on my gaming PC later. Have you got any other projects on the go?

Good satire is like good art, the more angles it has, the better it is.

I've got one more project on the go, but it's slightly secret still.

I wouldn't call it "completely original and groundbreaking" it's more "tried and true with a new twist". The basic game mechanics are common (geometry wars, super smash tv ... basically any top down shooter)

The game is awesome, don't get me wrong. I've spent over an hour on it, which is more than most flash games   Hand Thumbs Up Left

I love the line of sight mechanic, it really makes this game. My only big problem is the "click happy" effect. Your machine gun runs out of ammo pretty quick, and having to click once per bullet gets very repetative. If you changed it so that you could just hold down left mouse button and have the pistol shoot again and again it would be much more enjoyable to play

Overall, great stuff. The 8bit style works great

Hint: Press "R" to reload your  machine gun xD Even with my machine gun, I found myself wandering out into the unforgiving open... bad mistake. So yeah, never made it long enough to see if there was a level 2, and so on.

Absolutely, this is satire. Last year, I won the java 4k compo with a game called Left 4k Dead. Now that Valve's re-releasing Left 4 Dead under the name "Left 4 Dead 2", I'm re-releasing l4kd as l4kd2. ;-)

On a more serious note, one thing I learned when doing this is that mover/shooters like this only work well with a mouse if the player always is in the middle of the screen. Otherwise your aim will change when you move and the camera pans around, and that's just horrible.

"Hint: Press "R" to reload your  machine gun"

*facepalm*

dammit and i was hoping to accomplish things today.

Oh wells

I've got zombies to kill!

BTW the satire is great. And you're right on about the aiming and shooting mechanic. Are there multiple levels? If so then I just really suck at this haha

Yeah, there are. Find the red room ("safehouse") to advance to the next level.

That's funny, I never realized that there were levels in the game. Too many zombies to kill. No time for looking for "safehouses". I'll make my own dang safehouse! *BLAM*
