It kinda looks like sonic fan-character. making mess with the proportions a bit.
could just be me.
also the orange outline kinds bugs, it would look better with shapes like you did with the hammer

Change either the color of the tail or the hammer's colors.

I don't like the comparison to Sonic, personally. I don't really see much in common with that design, besides it being an animal. And maybe the shoes. I'm just looking for a color that looks good.
So if the character is an animal he's automatically a Sonic fan-character?
I'll see what I can do to make stuff less confusing to look at.

Hey, take it easy.
It's just because he has that "cool character yo aura" that Sonic recently has gotten.
..Also the shoes.
Of course all this can be different when seeing it all in action. His animations can give him enough character to make it unique.

If anything, it looks like tails. (Orangey-yellow animal with red and white shoes). Still two very different characters though, and I quite like the hammer. |

Guess I just think Sonic's gotten more and more moronic over time so a comparison to him seems almost like an insult.  I apologize if it sounded like an outburst. I'm kinda tired. Either way, I've gotten some good feedback on it so I might be able to improve things a good bit. |

I just thought it looked like sonic art because of the head body and shoe sizes  the sizes are similar i didn't think that simply because its an animal. sorry to offend man. |

I don't really know what I'm doing (still a n00b to pixel art), but I thought I would give this one a shot just because I really would love to see that beautiful concept art come to life. Here's a small edit: Basically, the main issue I took with the original artwork was that you had no directional lighting, and as such, especially with it being such a small format (42x42), everything felt pretty flat. I tried to give it a little more depth, but not sure how well I succeeded. I think I added maybe 6 more colors to the palette.    I look forward to seeing more! --clint |

 This is how the sprite looks now. Most of the work was from Guert, who helped me a lot. This may not be final yet, but I feel it captures the concept art much better than my first attempt. If I don't think of a way to improve it further I'll start doing some animations. |

Looks great, Melly!
I think that the dark outline on top of the snout could do better as a highlight to give it more depth, but as it is, it's got much better personality.
Very nice stuff!
