I happened across this contest a couple of days ago.
So far the only thing I have is what I envision as being background music for a cave in an RPG or something of the sort.

I would like to make something a little more appropriate/inspiring, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a nice old-school/8-bit composition system running within the week.

[Update]

And now we're finally giving meaning to the "plus" part of the original post.

"Let's Go" is a heavy electronica-style track that I like to think of as boss music.

"Full" Version

Parts:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2375786/Mp3s/Let%27s%20Go%20%28Loop%29.mp3

[Update]

"Deep Space" may be a little bit too dynamic to serve the purpose, but I envision it as possible level music from the same game as "Let's Go." For best listening, speakers with lots of bass are recommended.

I dunno, I think it's a little too cheery for walking around in a cave in an rpg. It's probably better suited for a low key platformer.

Hmm. Perhaps it'd be suitable for more of a "light" rpg, or perhaps a top-down zelda-ish type thing?

I really like your latest songs. They'd go great with a dungeon crawler of some sort.

Deep Space sounds pretty nice for a sci fi game

Stalagmite is absolutely good Town or World Map music. Reminds me of Chrono Cross or Legend of Mana a bit.

Healy - Thanks. I'm definitely glad you like them, though I have difficulty seeing "Let's Go" and "Deep Space" in a dungeon crawler. Then again, the words "dungeon crawler" make me thing of something in a more medieval setting. Were you thinking of something different?

cheapshot - I'm glad. That's exactly what I was going for.

Slashie - I think so too. When I was making it, I kept envisioning Zone of the Enders.

philnelson - Thanks. Unfortunately, I've never played either of those games; I have experienced Chrono Trigger, though.

Dayum, this is some great music. Way too good for the 'b-game' feel some of the entries are striving for, I think. Cheesy
