If you really had your heart set on making a 3D game and don't mind having serious aesthetic deficiencies from using amateur 3D assets, I might be able to help!  I'm currently planning on two regrettable sets of assets - a generic Spookee set and a space set.

Download the content as a big .zip here: http://www.errantsignal.com/files/AssembleeAssets.zip

Spookee Set - Preview Here!

The easiest way to look through the crap I've made is to just walk around the Unity demo level that has the assets laid around complete with animations, but if you're loathe to install the player (or are running on Linux) here's a list of content and some screenshots:

Completed Assets (Spookee Set)
  • Shotgun
  • Shotgun Ammo (small)
  • Shotgun Ammo (large)
  • RIP Tombstone
  • Cross Tombstone
  • Fence, Fence Ends
  • Bat (Animations: Flying, Furl, Unfurl, Idle Furled)
  • Ghost (Animations: Hover, charge throw, hold throw, throw throw)
  • Skeleton (Animations: Walk, Run, Attack, Die, Chatter Jaw))
  • Jewel
  • A horrendous dead tree that I'm going to nuke from orbit and redo because I'm unhappy with it
  • Femur
  • Skull
  • Campfire logs, particles
  • Shovel
  • Torch, Torch particles
  • Various cave assets (enterance, stalactites, columns, boulder)
  • Mario blocks
  • Weeds, Shrubbery
  • Sign post
  • Minerals sticking out of the ground
  • Castle Tower, Walls
  • Castle Gate w/ open/shut animations (both fast and slow versions)
  • Pine Tree
  • Peasant House
  • Bumpy Cave walls

Space Set

Completed Assets (Space Set)
  • Battlecruiser (Red, Blue, Green)
  • Small Attack Ship (Red, Blue, Green)
  • Pinwheel-style Space Station
  • Asteroid
  • Space Crate
  • Pew Pew Lasers (Red, Blue, Green)
  • Arrakis style Planet
  • Earth + Clouds
  • Hideous moon texture

I wouldn't call those unfortunate by any stretch. If I wanted to use 3D graphics for whatever reason, I'd totally use those! I love the ghost.

I haven't updated the demo level yet, but some things I've got brewing:

Battlecruiser-style ship.  I have this in three colors, currently - green, red, and blue.  Behind, a horrendous Earth-y texture, clouds as a separate sphere rotating at a different speed, and a moon that is crying out for improvement.

I mocked up an asteroid that scales to different sizes pretty well.

Space crate that can serve as loot visualization - money, weapons, spice, whatever.  Behind it, an Arrakis style desert planet and two lens flares I thought could be used as waypoints or to purdy up the sky.

My question: In the mad dash to reach the deadline should I focus on adding a few more space elements or refining the already more complete Spookee Set?
