Anything graphically generated during runtime is fine.
But it's cheating You could make a game like that using no assets at all... Someone should make a game made entirely out of one single asset... I was thinking something along the same line of thought... if I was gonna enter, I was going to take some of the really chunky small sprites, maybe some of the 2-bit ones, and use them in ways that are just totally not meant to be used (without meddling with the assets themselves per the rule book). Like, I'd use something that totally isn't a ship as the main little ship guy in a shmup, for example. actually, looking at these super small rpg tiles gave me a pretty good idea... I just... already have a project that I didn't want put on hold, *and* started another competition....

which involved a giant spider biting me and me unable to figure out how to turn off the stove.

PLON: the platforming version of TRON.

Are we allowed to use code/learning from open source games and examples?

As far as I know, yeah. Lots of people seem to be using engines they started beforehand.

As the time is getting shorter...End-Date 10th January midnight means in the night to the 11th, right!? And what timezone? I have to build up my time-schedule for the next days :D

You can usually post it a little bit past the deadline if you had trouble getting it up, but try and post it one or two days before if you can. That way you can also fix some bugs.
I think the forum time is the time we should use to plan ourselves.

I haven't even finished my first level!!! Right there with ya Ashkin. I am finally getting along with some game design... only about 3 and a half days left (about 80 hours), 0 lines of code done.

Had a terrible bump in development and now me and Andy are just running to see if we can get something out in time.
At least a level...

I dont suppose we could have a vote to possibly extend the deadline? I know that myself and my brother (who is also making his own game) won't have anything of quality ready by the deadline

I'd agree to that. A thousand times over.
Of course, no reason work can't be continued after the deadline. Just a shame to have to turn in something half finished.

Indeed. I think I may just finish one level and then submit my game, then work on it afterward. If I can stand to even look at it anymore.

Okay, this is totally my OCD playing tricks on me. The deadline is tomorrow right? Not the midnight that just happened?

An extension sure would be useful... I still have a lot of stuff to add to my game!
