This is a pretty neat design. There's obviously stuff you've cut for time - a lot of stuff where i'm not sure if I'm missing it or it's not there, for instance, with seeing the move/attack patterns of ships before you buy them, and repairing and so on. But it's pretty solid for what it is, I'm glad I played it.

Indeed, I had to cut out a lot of stuff in order to fit it into the timeline... but I'm content with the result I consider this finished no.. I leave it open for people to define new ships (the data format is open and easily modable) and will release the source code once I do a bugfix version.

After playing a bit I'm content on how playable it is, aside from an ugly bug I will patch tonight

Having fun, although sometimes it seems to give my ships the wrong name in the battle log.

You've got some good foundations for a huge, detailed game there, but in its current state I am unable to find things to do to keep playing it. It still took me about an hour to get bored enough, though! My complaints: *Horrible, horrible font *Space background doesn't look good *You don't see what is happening between the turns (I know it is hard to program the turns, but there is a reason people are not making turn-based games without this feature) *Not enough content. Also, 36 hours seems a huge sacrifice for making this game, I couldn't have kept spending time on this without getting bored / descending into hopelessness, I salute you

*You don't see what is happening between the turns (I know it is hard to program the turns, but there is a reason people are not making turn-based games without this feature)
This is probably caused by the lack of visual feedback for the actions... I had technical problems implementing that and had to push forward.. *Not enough content.
Yeah... I made it so that users could contribute content by editing the data files though... may be I will edit them a bit tonight! Also, 36 hours seems a huge sacrifice for making this game
Of those 36, 7 were spent planning / deciding what to do... most developers don't notice how much time they spend on this kind of projects, so it may seems like a lot of time but I wonder how much time other developers spent.. I couldn't have kept spending time on this without getting bored / descending into hopelessness It was not that bad...

Hey Slashie!
I think it's a pretty interesting game you've got there.
I like the battles, and how the different types of ships can interact with each other.
It could use some more documentation. Is it possible to repair damaged ships? What about selling old ones to get new ones?
The game really throws money at you. It never comes close to being any kind of a limitation at any point in time.
I don't know how much you want to add to this, but I bet if you balanced out the costs, explained everything clearly, and gave the player a more well-defined mission with side quests for money and all of that, I think you could have a really enjoyable game on your hands.

I have released this under the GPL V2 https://code.google.com/p/spritegears/Am collecting all issues and enhancements, will (probably) tackle them soon. Anyone has problems running this?

An interesting game. The lack of visual and audio feedback from your actions makes battles a bit confusing, but it was enjoyable.

I liked the idea of this, but it was difficult to play. You need a lot of clicks to do anything (and the game sometimes doesn't register clicks) and then a lot of mousing-over to find out what has happened.

Liked: Good variation of ships made manoeuvring and tactical formations really important.
Disliked: The in game information needs a lot of fleshing out. I got quite far without really feeling that I fully understood what was going on.
Conclusion: With a bit more in game instruction this could really turn into something.
