I just like reading about games. Though I do agree with Arne in that I also read them to see what the mechanics are. If the review doesn't mention anything about the actual mechanics of the game, regardless of score, I'll generally just ignore it.
But really, I just like reading about games.

I scan game reviews for the word "boring". If it appears in the article, I start looking for more information about the game. I know from experience that the games that journalists find "boring", are the ones I enjoy the most.  Embarrassed

For the rest, I do read them, but more from a developer/marketing point of view. To learn how journalists see things.
