Hello! I'm making a first-person dungeon crawler inspired by classic games like Eye of the Beholder and Lands of Lore. I've been working on it since the start of the competition part 2 but I wasn't certain I would be able to code it as this is the first time I'm coding a 3D game. Given the results I obtained on these first 5 days of competition, there is a good possibility I'll be able to finish it before the deadline so I decided to show the game at its current state. Also I'm trying to keep a development log for the game at the link jefrsilva.wordpress.com, but now I'll update this post too. Updates:- 01/15 - Added some new executables that fix a menu bug and a bug that degraded performance on some integrated graphics boards.
- 01/10 - Finished first demo version that includes the first 2 levels of the game. Unfortunately, I just started implementing the save system and it is not ready yet so the demo doesn't allow saves. New features for this version: tutorial, automapping and map, Lua scripting, ranged attack monsters, consumables, shields, talking NPCs, map transitions, more visual effects for feedback and more.
- 12/22 - New video update showing new features. Added doors, holes, pressure plates, secret walls, animations for all attack types, visual feedback for enemy attacks, music and sound effects. A test build for Windows is available for download.
- 12/17 - Updated video with footage from the current implementation of the battle system. Added a new screenshot. Next update to include ranged combat, defensive items and visual feedback for attacks directed to the player.
- 12/12 - Added a new screenshot showing the basic implementation of monsters and multiline tooltips. Next update to include combat system and maybe monsters AI.
Gameplay Video (updated 12/22)

I predict awesomeness
Well made interface, my congrats.
Moving around these pixels however hurts my eyes a bit in fullscreen. I would enable texture filtering while moving and disable when stopped, It will give you a cheap-o-motionblur (you should enable it a fraction of second late, tho)

Pretty groovy. Looking forward to you finishing the basics so some wacky original gameplay can emerge!

Oh man... I'm loving this. My favorite game for Part 2 so far. I almost want you to stop, start over, and make this in XNA so I can play it from the comfort of my couch at 3AM. You know, those shoulder buttons make great turning inputs
