Just a preview of the game I'm developing. Currently testing mechanics, but here's a

- Pressing (A) in white space accelerates right. Pressing (A) in black space accelerates left
- Up to 4 players. Players can join at any time during gameplay.
- For purposes of this competition there are two modes: Timed stage progression, and random arena. Menu will also be multiplayer (voting).
- Objective: Collect gems within the time limit (3 mins).
- In Arena mode, the stage will change every 30 seconds. The total gems are then added to your score whenever the stage changes as follows: highest count gets all collected gems added, next highest gets all collected gems except for the highest, and etc.
- In Tower mode, reaching the exit adds 2 gems to your collection, and changes the stage. The total gems are then added to your score as follows: highest count gets all collected gems added, next highest gets all collected gems except for the highest, and etc.
- In all modes, as more gems are collected, gems will take longer to respawn until the stage changes, where the spawn increment timer is reset.
- Players will be able to input 3-letter names for high score.

Very creative idea. What I really liked, and I'm not sure if this was intentional, but it looks like there could even be a bit of teamwork going on during multiplayer. In the video, at one part, Player One messed up and was about to fall, but then Player Four quickly accelerated to the left, and punted him back up into the black area.

Good stuff.

Teamwork? Nah, it's the opposite. Only the first player was controlled at that point, and it's a LOT more likely that players will interfere with each other. Just like how in New Super Mario Bros Wii, it's possible for teamwork, but not only is it not necessary, it's also more likely everyone will get in each other's way.

Not saying that it's impossible for teamwork though, but it's more tricky: the scoring system can be manipulated by teamwork, but it will likely be difficult, which if someone manages, is fine by my system, since more effort is obviously put in.
