Or find an info shop and ask where the nearest dungeon is.

There's really nothing to the server.  It's a MySQL database that stores each screen as a row, and there are a number of php files to read/write data as needed.

Anyway, I finally managed to update the game.  A slightly difficult task, as I'm currently in internet limbo, and have to work from a nearby bakery with wifi.  As such, I can't address all the bugs and features I'd like to.  But I at least got multiple worlds working.

And so:

Major changes in the updated version:

  • Fixed capacity for multiple worlds
  • Strife check icon now lights up if there's treasure on the screen
  • Strife system modified; may make adventure 1 seem a little unusual
  • Yet more bugfixes

I changed up how the strife system is counted.  I don't know yet if it's better or worse, but let's try it out.

I fixed a few extra things, like enemies attacking you in a shop.
Sadly, the double-enemy bug and the boss instantly dying bug are still there.

And so: the second world is open!  A fresh start for those who like making a lot of stuff!  It will only work with updated version, though.

Is there a tool shop in world 2 anywhere?

The bakery on the little island just south-east of the central save point is now the main tool shop.

Sorry about that.  My bad.

Well, since the first world has been all finished-like for a while, I thought I'd see if I could get a complete world map going.  And so here it is:  http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/5688/birdyworld1.png

There's a little over a thousand screens there, and so much I still have yet to see.
Thanks once again to everyone who's played!
(And remember, world 2 is still ripe for the making!)

Hey, I'm on that list! I played, but I guess I never played far enough to see my thing there, NOW I AM DETERMINED TO FIND IT!

But of what I did play, I enjoyed; I really like the whole user generation system!

Currently waiting for my map to upload. How long does it normally? You did a great job with this, by the way. It's a lot of fun.

Kweh, thanks!

Uploaded a screen shouldn't take more than a few seconds.  If it takes much longer, then it probably failed somehow.

...And I didn't get around to making it time out or retry, so I'm sorry if you lose anything neat because of it.

Yeah, it failed. I remade it though.

And why are people so evil with dungeon design? I still haven't found World 2's 2nd dungeon boss.

is there a specific reason behind the size limit of the world?
Does the world/dungeon creation actually cost anything or is it just to create a piece if there is a void?

I was thinking about something simular at some point where the user of a said area was awarded credits based on a enjoyment rating from other players, thus getting a special credit just for world creation tasks. As for instance a dungeon or part of the world.

Then again it is nice just to be able to run amok without thinking about that stuff, that combined with no exact user data and registrations etc. Would probably bring the gameflow down.

Where the boss ends up is kinda random, so you can't really plan the dungeon so that it guides the player to the boss.

Yeah, that didn't occur to me. Frustration, yes? I'm on dungeon 3 now. I'd like a chance to put some stuff in dungeons 4/5 before they're done. Speaking of which, where's boss 3?

Also, how many worlds do you plan to allow for setup?

Dungeon 3's boss is pretty well-hidden.  Very far to the east, and a little north, I think.  When in doubt, just follow the enemies; the boss will end up in a room with a really high strife level.

You'll probably have a good shot at adding to dungeons 4 and 5, because not many people have been working on 4.

And it should theoretically be possible to just keep adding worlds, so I plan to keep doing that (after each world gets finished, of course) up until people stop playing the game.
