About 10 weeks ago I decided to take a break from Venture Dinosauria to work on a design I've been kicking around in my head for years now. Here it is, the result of 10 weeks work:
MONACO: What's Yours is Mine
Trailer:
Monaco is a 4 player co-op stealth game with an overhead perspective. Each player takes on a unique character with complementary skill sets (Locksmith, Prowler, Hacker, Cleaner) in order to get and in and get out with as much loot as possible. Think Gauntlet crossed with Hitman.
The game currently has about 90% of the levels done, a full level editor, 4 players on a LAN (internet won't be hard to do but I haven't decided on the platform I want to target first). You can even play your custom levels with players across a network. It's written in XNA.
This was my IGF submission this year. I can't wait for everyone to play it!

No, TBH release date is pending whether I get any interest from XBLA or PSN, which I haven't even started pitching yet. Showing a trailer to you folks should help to to figure out what I need to change, if the game is buzz-worthy, etc. Dan Paladin has actually helped out quite a bit with getting it to be really fast-paced jump-in fun. He loves it, so I think I'm on the right track

Wow, it's beautiful and it LOOKS like it's potentially a ton of fun . Lovely walking animation. Personally, I'd probably change the in game font because I think it clashes a bit with the rest of the visual style but it's no biggie.

Good point on the in-game font. The one major thing I have left to do on the game is a complete overhaul of the graphic design (UI, HUD, etc). So far I've done all the art myself but I'm not happy yet with what I've got.

This is really interesting, I hope you release it at least for PC. Also for PSN wouldn't you have to port it again? The PS3 doesn't run XNA, or does it?

I would have to port it, but if Sony wants the game and that looks like the smart path to go, the effort of porting it is likely minimal compared to the gains of being on PSN.

Holy crap. Congrats, Andy!
But this begs the question... since you're an entrant, who will be hosting the 2010 IGF?

I have no clue, but I vote Derek! (I actually suggested that about 15 minutes after the end of last year's ceremony) Whomever it is I'm sure that they will do a good job and also make the right decisions when reading off the winners. :D

Congrats!
I think this looks like a very interesting game. The concept of co-op multiplayer that isn't an FPS sounds really awesome. Best of luck man!

I can't say I've heard of a co-op stealth game that isn't Splinter Cell (and both players had the same skills there). Sounds interesting.

A) This looks like fun! B) Massive points for using Danse Macabre in your trailer. Oh, and congrats on being an IGF finalist.

Glad you guys liked it! I don't see any reason why I wont be releasing this on Steam. That said... I haven't talked to Valve yet... so you never know.
