Sometimes I'll duplicate+invert+expand the model to provide a rough outline to help keep track of detail...

I love this technique, we got taught this in college. Makes for some great Jet Set Radio-style models.

Good stuff overall, man Smiley

This one I created today. This is a headless savage, he is a monster in the game.
I am going to put some pants on him though.
He is largely inspired by the Ultima 7 headless monsters.

That's a great idea for a monster, surprised I haven't seen it more.  Last Ultima I payed was VI, I think.

I gotta admit I hate how pre-rendered sprites look (ala Rollercoaster Tycoon), pixeling over them to give them that hand-made look was a really good move. They look great.

Man Rollercoaster Tycoon was one of the least noticeable uses of prerendered 3D! You horn-swoggler!
Pretty much everywhere else it comes out looking like a bunch of hard plastic (Golden Sun, Donkey Kong Country)

real art looks like the mona lisa or a halo poster and is about being old or having your wife die and sometimes the level goes in reverse

Rollercoaster Tycoon used prerendered 3D? I have to admit that I never noticed that, though now that you mention it, there are a few objects that do look prerendered.

I agree that prerendered sprites usually look terrible (that plastic look bothers me like no other), but Dan's sprites look amazing.

wait i think i've got something decent.

it runs slow, but that's because i can't get an animated version up for show without iaza.
how does it look?

Well, I'll TRY and become a bit more active in this site.

Here's something I've been working on:

It's for a possible shooting/fighting game called "Bikini Space Girls"

Cool style, but the feet should be farthest forward when they just hit the ground.

Redrew something I did a few years back. The hair is probably the most vexing part.
