Unfortunately, I've really lost interest in this project. A test map similar to a final map just wasn't fun or interesting, and overall it's uninspired and boring. I may work on something else for the compo or do a more long-term project eventually. I'll release the source code if, for whatever reason, someone wants it.

A Game About Espionage.


Next on the agenda:
NPCs
From my post in the idea thread:

A 2-player spy game with a ton of npcs walking around. The objective is to steal something from the other player(s) while staying blended in as much as you can. Whenever you do something other than walking, your sprite changes to differ from the NPCs, and if you hurt one or do something bad in front of them, a speech bubble with an exclamation mark goes over your head for a few seconds. Things you can do would be:
Shoot stuff
Steal stuff
Drink coffee for energy and speed
Place little sensors on the ground that alert you of people passing that aren't NPCs
And such.
So basically I'm going for Gravity Bone's awesome spy theme combined with The Ship's stealthy multiplayerness.

Development Started!

To-Do:
-Tweak the NPCs in Jenner's Engine [60%] Started!
-Spriting[10%]
-Multiplayer[75%]
-Sensors[0%]
-No colliding with NPCs[100%] Started! Done!
-Coffee[25%] Started!
-Mapping[0%]

Planned Gamemodes
-A game similar to capture the flag, where one person steals from the other while trying to defend their own object from being stolen.
-A game where one person defends their base, and the other steals something.
-Deathmatch?

As you can see, it's not much yet. More stuff added lately. Later graphics will be less awful.

Using music from http://thecrimelounge.blogspot.com/ if possible.
Suggestions definitely welcome. Also, I need a name.
Current progress download
The shooting bug has been fixed.

Note: This game will require a ton of graphics that I'll be doing myself. I will be attempting to finish by then, but I'm debating whether or not to give up.

There are other spy games? Also, coffee is implemented graphically now. There's a nice little sprite over your head when you walk by it.
EDIT: Gah, I just searched and most look more interesting. >_< I'm hoping for more of a Gravity Bone sort of thing with the maps, though.

That's what I'm hoping for. I'm not sure about the max amount, though I'm thinking two or four at best.

Spent a few hours on it today. There's now multiplayer, a grabbable suitcase objective, death (Jenner's Engine mangles it.), and shooting. Now I've got to add coffee, maps, some non-suckish graphics, and music. Oh, and fix the mangled NPCs so they just idly walk around.

Updated first post with shite demo.
Controls are:
WASD and IJKL for movement.
Q and U to shoot.
E and O to pick up the suitcase.
Left Click to make crates.
The first one's always for P1 and second is for P2.

What doesn't work:
Coffee
Occasionally you'll walk into a recently shot bullet.
NPCs. (Literally none in this demo.)

What works:
Two players.
A suitcase.
Neat little speech bubbles whenever you do something out of the ordinary, other than shooting, which'll be added in the next version.
Breakable crates.
An angry face which I've yet to remove. PROTIP: Don't touch him.

Barely playable, compared to what I'm aiming for to be in the final version, anyway.
Also, the speech bubble FLASHES. Way to go beyond expectations, eh?
