FAQ

Q: What is Indie Brawl?
A: Indie Brawl is a multiplayer, 2-dimensional fighting game that pits some of the most famous characters from indie games against each other. Think of it as an indie version of Super Smash Brothers. You can read the design document here.

Q: How is this project managed?
A: Anyone interested is free to contribute graphics, sounds, code, ideas and criticism. You can contribute as much or as little as you are willing and able. Soulliard is responsible for taking everyone's contributions and combining them into a finished product.

Q: Cool. How can I help?
A: Go here. There, you will be directed to where contributions are needed the most.

Q: How is this being programmed?
A: It is being made in Game Maker 7. The source code is included with the download.

Q: How was this project started?
A: The original idea was formed in late 2007. In the summer of 2008, Soulliard decided to revive the project, and since then, the idea has taken off.

Q: Who should I contact if I have any questions about Indie Brawl?
A: You can contact Soulliard.

I don't think it's a problem. If anything, this board will just be a collaborative TIGS work board. In other words, it's a board for projects that all of TIGS can work on at once, like with Indie Brawl. I'm sure Brawl will just be the first of many Beer!

I believe we have idle sprites for Naija and Nikujin, but that's about it.

yeah, I saw those but I'm looking for some concept art to decorate this thread. Of course, I could use these sprites but I dunno, I'll see what I can do/find.
Thanks!

Concept art isn't in great demand for a project where all the character designs are done for you. Tongue

Arenas, menus, Character artworks for the character selection screens, End battle/results portraits, title screen, loading screen and perhaps bio screen would need some artworks to give an idea of what it will look like in-game. Well, imo. Wink  In all cases, an illustration of two indie characters fighting it out would be sweet. Smiley

Just wanted to announce that the code for Naija is complete. You can download the latest version of Indie Brawl in the Design Doc thread.

I think we should add another topic along the lines of "Artist collaboration". A lot of work is getting done on characters, programming and design, but little has been done with animations yet. We need a specific topic which requests artists to start contributing animations. I would hate to see this game grind to a halt just because interest in animating everything couldn't get gathered.

I agree that, at the moment, the game needs art pretty badly. Xion's contributed lots of great stuff, and Inane has contributed as well, but we can't expect them to make all the animations.

Indeed. We also need SFX and music.
