Shifter is coming to ios/android in July, 2015.

About game

Shifter is tiny single-screen puzzle platformer. Shift and combine different parts of the level, use strange mechanisms, connect mystic stone circuits, activate ancient heads and help little explorer to reach the exit. Base game mechanic is kind of 15-puzzle mixed with pipe connection game: player can rearrange level parts in order to connect power source with exit door, located in one of the stone heads.

All parts of Shifter (design, programming, art, music) are created by single developer. I'm developing it with haxeflixel.

Amazing idea and fantastic inspiration. I am looking to get a good puzzle idea as well. I'll make sure to take your creativity into consideration.

Currently I'm using Tiled as level editor. But I'm considering creating some small custom editor if I will have troubles on first stages of level design. Because things can get complicated without ability to shift parts of the level on the fly in level editor.

I like the flow of it so far. Seems to be a concept the player can understand and work with easily.

Hi. Game was abandoned for something about 4 months, but returned to this prototype and spent last two weeks on working. Now game mechanics are almost finished, I will begin to make levels tomorrow.

Also here is gameplay of test mini-level, showing some basic elements of game mechanics:

And test level screenshot:

I will update the main post with more info tomorrow.

I like the mechanic.  Are all the levels split into 4 quarters or will there be more complex setups?

Thanks! 4 quaters splitting will be in the first levels, where players will be learning basic game mechanics. So there also will be 3x2 and 3x3 levels after that.

Looks fun!  Player movement looks a touch slow but maybe that's just the gif playback being weird.

I think I played a game with a very similar mechanic to this. I'm not sure what it was called but I think I got it on PSN for free. I can say though without even playing this, I already like this much more. I really love the mechanic and the art compliments it very well.
