Whenever I make a 2d game (well, prototype), I get bored of looking at my programmer art, and I look for some stock sprite sheets. You know, generic characters or whatever. But it's really hard for me to find good quality sprite sheets. Where do you guys get them? Is there like a central site, like istockphoto for photos? Something like Deviantart?

The donation pack of assets from Kenney is pretty great if it meets your needs -- or if money is tight and you only need a couple of items you can download and use individual sets rather than the whole package -- I would encourage you to make at least a small donation to support the creator when you can though!

GameDev Market have some decent packages, most of which seem very reasonably priced.

There's also various tech-specific asset stores such as the Unity asset store, Game Maker marketplace, etc.  If you want to use these and you're not using the engine in question be sure to check that the licencing terms allow it -- some of them don't!
