You'll have to avoid the fact that the tiles dont quite match up but I just wanted to check something.
Has anyone ever made a game like this before? Taking advantage of the Zelda-like perspective where sprites are a mix of 3/4 and side on, how playable do you think a game would be if it switched playing styles between 3D movment and 2D side scroller depending on where you were standing?

I think I would have to adjust the view of the 2D sections so that they still match up with the 3D sections and make a few Escher style tweaks but I think its doable.

I put all of my animated cycles together in this mocky mockup. It seems to be working, although I may put in 1 frame antic for his jum, just to flesh out the animation a bit more.
The background art is a placeholder.

The game is  called Hand Point Right CLOUDFACE Hand Point Left

This is literally the coolest thing I've seen all week
Agreed  Beer!

Here's a small mockup I made recently:

Cat-like creature with it's companion robot saving the world from evil.  Grin

Cat-like creature with it's comapinion robot saving the world from evil.  Grin

Ah, man, this is so cool. I love how small everything is.
Glad you liked it.  Smiley

Not sure if anyone's actually made the game yet, but I seem to remember a mockup someone made awhile back that was somewhat similar to this. Interesting idea, but pulling it off seems kinda difficult.

I like it and I'm for it. Have you thought about how the different perspectives can interact because I think that is key.

You'll have to avoid the fact that the tiles dont quite match up but I just wanted to check something.

Thanks ya'll fer the kind words.

I've been working more on the game whenever I can catch time. I messed around with the title screen again. I'm sure this won't be in the final game, but it's still fun to mess around with
