Original post:

We need more sound effects! So I'll be taking requests.

Request ANY sound effect or jingle in this thread, and I will make it for you. Requested sound effects will generally be under ten seconds and will not contain intelligible speech, but other than that, request anything at all and I'll do my best to imitate it. You can be as abstract or as precise as you like with your description. I will make at least one sound effect for every request in this thread.

P.S. I'm secretly using this to test the synthesizer project I'm working on. All of the above sounds, even the piano, were created in my synthesizer. If you want to try it out, an Intel-Mac build is in progress. There'll be a Windows build too, but it's pretty broken right now so I won't share it yet.  Giggle

Rar!  Yay, more sound effects!

- Onlookers are allowed to make suggestions and comment on the assets, but if you plan on participating in the part two, you cannot share your game ideas in detail with the artists and musicians.
I was kinda under the impression that we are not supposed to make specific requests, but it sounds like suggestions are fine.  So I suggest...
How about some kind of mechanical noise?  There are some shoot em up graphics floating around here, maybe some crazy laser sounds and a good solid 'mission start' or 'go' noise/chime.  A 'charging' noise (ie for a laser) or some kinda of awesome power/speed up noise could be quite handy.

wind_howling is nice, gets the imagination going.

Man, sorry about the delay. I'll make some excuses about having a day job and needing to implement a new feature to get proper metallic sounds. Lame.  Droop

But I have no more day job work until Monday, and I promise not to go and try to implement any more features before Part 1 is over. So request away!

some kind of mechanical noise

bayooh
chopper
hum (looping)
initiate
lock
reedidoo
seal
wibwib

laser sounds

laser_1
laser_2
laser_3
laser_4

'charging' noise (ie for a laser)

chargeup_1
chargeup_2

power/speed up noise

powerup_1
powerup_2
powerup_3

And here are some random ones.

boiling (looping)
clang_1
clang_2
creak
deedoodeedoo
deflect
drip
error
fire (looping)
flop
horsefly
oof
processing (looping)
underwater (looping)

a good solid 'mission start' or 'go' noise/chime.

Will do that soon.

Awesome!

Hey these sound effects sound good!  In Assemblee Part II there can't be any excuse about there being no good sound effects!  All the games should have em : D  Nice job with those various mechanical, power-up and laser sound effects.  And I really like your 'event' SFX, very excited about those.

Yeah, the "event" sounds, at least the first few I made, were for your "mission start" request, glad you like 'em! Grin

Likewise, used a good number of your sound effects. Footsteps, some weapon noises, machine sounds, and all the noises the monster in my game makes.

Thanks for synthesizing!

 Gentleman

In a couple months or so I'll announce a more official version of Yowzer, the tool I'm making that I used to synthesize these sounds. It'll have more music-related features then... The goal is to lower the barrier to entry for newbies to make music, including non-chiptune music, but without resorting to built-in sounds or loops. And no wires!
