Turning this into a tiny game where you have to climb a mountain full of traps!

Oh wow kidfingers that is beautiful! It's so stylish... And that shading is wonderful, everything is so well defined, and the colors are great! Especially those fabric folds on Ashley!

Thanx!

I tried out a new technique. Some of the bits and pieces are still a bit jittery but overall I think it came out okay.

the apparent size of his left arm (and some other parts, outlines) keeps changing. it also looks jittery because there are these sudden changes in momentum that don't make sense.

Is the motion rotoscoped?

I think less movement in his legs would be better, his right leg looks like its super jello-y

Hm, I think you're right. Someone suggested I slow the animation down a bit, do you think that makes the motion look more stable or should I consider adjusting or removing frames?

Good catch, I'll fix that outline on the arm. Where would you say are the sudden changes in momentum that don't make sense? When he goes up or down?

Is the motion rotoscoped?

Yes, I recorded some footage of myself and then used that. I really struggle with more subtle movement in animations so I wanted to give rotoscoping a go. Capturing footage of myself felt really awkward but eh.

Thanks for all the input everyone!

regardless of fluidity and all that the motion makes no sense unless it's supposed to be someone dancing badly
but that's more of a general canned complaint from me about about idle animations than anything

At this point, it might just be easier to remove some frames. You can definitely get rid of like, 3 frames in the middle and actually improve the animation just from doing that. Even still, there is going to be a lot of cleanup needed on each frame, as I see a lot of inconsistencies and wobbly movement. It's most noticeable on his left arm, but really it's pretty much everywhere. There isn't much point to all of these frames if it's not even communicating clear and clean movement.

Mmm. Nice. I like that snappy arm swing you've got going on on the woman's walk cycle - it makes it a bit less plain than a basic swing.
