You're doing a great job preaching to the choir Dove.
Are my rants about video games as art that insulting to you, Melly? I thought that you were about not classifying games under genres, for the sake of more open-mindedness. It seems almost as if you're contradicting yourself by complaining about my posts. You were always the one to pinpoint anything wrong that I was doing. Though, interestingly enough, whenever a different person complains about the lack of innovation or meaningfulness in games, you say nothing to them. And, Renton, that is very immature of you, for a moderator. Fuck this forums, as hardly anyone here has any clue as to how we can truly "innovate" the games industry.

Personal insults against members, psuedo-intellectual rants, and conspiracy theories are your approach?

There is so much wrong with what you just posted Dove, that I really don't want to dignify it with a response. Instead, here's a picture of Jackie Chan. Does anybody here listen to the Irrational games podcast? It's awesome. They said there'd be a new episode out to go with the announcement but there isn't yet : /

Instead, here's a picture of Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan isn't going to defuse any sort of argument, he has a terrible track record for that. Don't you know what typically happens to him after he says he wants no trouble? You've doomed us to an elaborate fight scene involving Jackie Chan fighting someone with something you wouldn't use for fighting, while trying not to drop something. And these two items may be the same thing. And it may or may not be a baby. Also, video games.

I wonder if this will be set in the same universe as the first two games.

Ken Levine stated outright that it's a Final Fantasy style thing. Different canon, same themes (kind of).
Makes me think Irrational were making something else, and 2K said 'it's Bioshock now'.

They haven't said whether it's the same universe or not at all.

Yeah, he's being very evasive about it: RPS: My initial question upon seeing the demo is… well, is this actually the same universe as Bioshock?
Ken Levine: I’m not going to answer that question. But will say… you’ve just seen the demo once. There’s stuff going on which isn’t immediately apparent. That’s all I’ll say. InterviewThey try to ask again if it's a Final Fantasy kind of thing, but he just talks about something else instead. If it is the same universe then Rapture's science makes less sense. If there was already the ability to summon a murder of crows by drinking a potion, discovering plasmids that let you summon a swarm of bees would have been much less exciting. Plus, building a city under the sea is much less "do the impossible" when there was one floating around the sky 60 years before.

Alternate reality? And the title alludes to there being infinite realities?

It's odd that the landscape in the trailer looks like American farmland, when the city is supposed to be lost. Perhaps the game is about immigration policy into a newly discovered, infinite version of the midwest.

The stuff in the trailer strikes me as exactly the sort of uber-nationalism that Andrew Ryan claimed to be fleeing from.

I feel myself falling off the board most of the time..the Steampunk/Airship/"The coming of Child Labor Laws" era looks pretty sweet, the trailer won me over.
