It's placeholder programmer art. Don't think the final version will look that terrible Tongue

Two of those colours are barely indistinguishable and probably oversaturated for dirt though that might just be against the pure white background. Your lines look pretty jaggy too. Your tiling is pretty good but honestly I only know its meant to be dirt/rocks by the fact that its brown, not from the texture or lighting on it.

Do some pixel art studies of how older games and other artists approach this kind of stuff, and sort out your colours.

Yeah that looks like a floor tile, not a wall.  Unless that's the intention.

The full saturation doesn't help much, either.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll look at some older games on how they do dirt/rock tiles. I've got a screenshot here with the background it will have behind it (on the surface).

The game is supposed to be set on mars, I think it's perhaps too dark and I should make it a lot brighter, or I could keep it as a lower layer and make a different tile for the surface layers.

Ah, so it's ground from a side-view, right? If so, you probably want to make it brighter at the surface and darker at the bottom. The starry background's really bright, too - you might want to make it less saturated and darker as well.

Geeze dude. Like it was ripped out of Fantasia 2020, it looks great even as blocking.

Limbo samurai, eh? Nice art - I like that it's not pure grayscale, but rather just really dark in the foreground. I think the vignette might be a bit strong in the last pic - seems like the crates don't stick out as well as they could.

A title image for my Space Cowboy Game Jam entry. The first time I've ever tried this sort of thing but farmergnome gave me some very helpful pointers.
