Fuck graphists. But yeah, I asked BLAMBO to make art for me, and sent him a few sprites to fix up if he'd like.
So I found out that adding villages to the same island as the player won't work SO... I now need to add other islands to the game. Fun!!!
For a technical reason or gameplay reason? Gameplay. With it on the same island, it takes up too much space, and making islands smaller makes them look lame. I don't know what Blambo's doing but I trust his expertise!  I've been working on developing the language used by natives in the game... Here's a quick sentence! eleata tetotio I'm blue. That's literally the sentence. eleo is the verb, and to conjugate it for "me" or "ata" you just take off the "o" and add the pronoun, in this case "ata". "teto" is "blue" and "-tio" is an adjective ending. So you therefore get eleata tetotio. :D |

Im really torn on the new style...
The old style had a certain charm about it, the entire world was consistent and "style x" it might have some detractors but overall the style and animations were consistent and recognisible..
the new style is a bit more out there.. I think you'd need to push the "felt" look more for it to work as well stylistically as the first one. It will also take a lot more work to keep the style consistent and solid throughout.

YEAH, GIVE THEM THE NEXT-GEN GRAPHICS THEY CRAVE. OMG DO YOU SEE THOSE LIGHTING EFFECTS? NOT TO MENTION THAT POLY COUNT, GAH ONE MILLION FACES NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD.  And I did this because I love the original style and I don't really like the reasons behind changing it. BUT, I'm fine with changes as long as it keeps that silly look. Enjoy my fan art. |
