Conceptually this sounds like a great educational game
It sounds closer to word puzzle games like "wurdle", than "bejeweled" or "tetris".
Following things come to mind from a game design perspective:
- How to support the player with information about existing molecules to solve the puzzles (to find words in "wurdle", players use their vocabulary which they use every day. not many players are as familiar with molecule combinations)
I think it is an important question you need to find a solution for. If you are able to do that, it will have a great potential as an educational game.
Thank you for reminding me. I've been planning on properly implementing some sort of mechanics to allow players to understand what jargons without looking them up in the internet.
Even though there is absolutely no mention in the game(great game design, I tell you!), you CAN look at what the molecule looks like within the game.
You have to click the objective.
I am still trying to figure out how to improve in this area as the image may still confuse the players.
(Does the molecule have to be that specific shape? Does it matter as long as the molecule contains same elements? etc.)
