Now that I've got a pass to GDC, I've got to make some business cards. I have a question though: What's the default size for business cards?

I want to whip them up in photoshop and then just take them to kinkos or whatever, but I have no idea what size I'm restricted to. Help!

Also, re: sizes:

Quote
The standard dimensions for a printed business card are 3.5 x 2 inches. That's the finished card size.
Many printed designs include bleed. The "bleed area" is an extra 1/8 inch of space for design elements or backgrounds that extend beyond the finished size of your piece. A business card design with bleed is printed slightly oversized and then cut down to size, giving the appearance that the printing "bleeds" off the edge of the card, rather than having white borders.

From the very first google search result for "business card size"  Durr...?

How about these, any votes?
#1 IMO. A bit more padding to the right of the text (and a tiny, tiny bit more at the bottom) would be even better too.

The non-pic one people say is more professional is not all that good because there's not enough space at the sides to be a good margin. Cards get bent & sides wrecked up easily.

Thank you all for the fascinating feedback! Much appreciated. Smiley

I think it's endearing. if your angle is "small games" though, why not make everything really small? a lot of times, business cards are more about how much of a badass you are as opposed to actually giving people information.

True, but I'm not really the sort of guy who wants people to think he's a badass. That would be a misconception; the truth is, I'm not a very impressive figure. I'm more the soft, teddy bear type. Actually, "endearing" is a better word for it. So I'm probably going to stick with what I've got.

Thanks again for all the suggestions! They will be digested!

What? Really? I honestly thought I was making it too obvious. Don't want to get on people's nerves about the whole thing. So... yes. Yes I'm making Owlboy.

The printer is buzzing away next to me right now. Hitting the 60 sheet mark any second, hopefully by the time I'm ready to leave tonight, I should have enough for everybody. I'm going to have a lot of folding to do...

You could afford to make it more obvious -- I didn't know either! Shocked

I am embarrassed for all of you that don't know Snake purely by reputation!  You guys should pay more attention to the Secret Santa activities over at Pixelation  Gentleman

Not to mention the eye-gouging sexiness of Owlboy, of which I only know and love due to Snake's involvement Tongue

Wow.  It seems I was schooled long before I clicked that order confirmation button.

My inadequate design.

I'm on display, but I have 500 of these.   Undecided

There's "Colossal Katamari" again... It haunts me. It's actually one of my goals with Owlboy. Create something greater to be remembered for.

This topic is drifting off a bit though. I'm getting on the plane in three hours, so I'm stressing my arse off right now. I'm going to post some shots of the cards, possibly the shirts if I finish a bit early. Turned out pretty snazzy I think.
