A 7DRL exploring the themes of identity, ego and madness by Ido
Yehieli(that's me!), Charl van Deventer and Whitaker Blackall:

http://tametick.com/ampa/

Requires java and a non-ancient graphics card.

Works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Declaimer: no responsibility is taken if and when this game fries your 3d card.

Wow, hex-based!!
The lighting system and atmosphere (music, zoom levels, ambient stuff) was really wonderful too.
The rotation control felt a bit awkward. I think it would be possible to do 6-way movement with a letter key for each direction, but it would be keyboard-specific (and not just for different layouts). Maybe you wouldn't want to do that anyway.

I didn't spot the themes to be honest, but it was certainly a good little experience.

Any plans for other future games in the same engine?

It depends on what you count as the "engine"...But under the most generous of definitions this is the 3rd or 4th game I've made with it.

You can poke around on my homepage, I've posted most of my completed games here:

Ahhh that was awesome. Stunning atmosphere for a roguelike, I must say. Music and graphics were quite stunning. I was disappointed by the ending though, I was expecting something other than a congrats.

I also thought it had a Small Worlds vibe to it.

Small Worlds was one of our inspirations.

I know the game is very short, and we barely made it on time for the deadline as it is.

Maybe some day we will revisit it and make a non-7drl version.

Very atmospheric.
But very short and easy too.
And control are a little unresponsive.
Some keypresses are eaten away.
It would be nice to make some flashy ending Smiley

Yeah, we were just talking today about making the endgame a bit more exciting.  Thanks for all the feedback!

For now we will be working on:

* bugs caused by graphic cards that don't support FBOs
* bugs caused by graphic cards with spotty support of opengl 2.0
* extreme slow downs caused by the above falling back to software rendering rather than flat out crashing
* optimizations to make it work faster of cards that are simply too slow
* better distribution on windows, apparently some people don't like WebStart
* fixing the controls to be more responsive - done
* expanding and extending the gameplay (more levels, with the current version just being level 1)
