Why are there so many different independent game distribution markets? They all offer the same selections and honestly make keeping track of what you own even more of a hassle. Is this not the same shit as the 80's videogame crash? You remove the barrier of entry and the library is flooded with bullshit. All this seems to be doing is trying to kill Steam, and make everyone look foolish for not just buying from ,"the Walmart of distribution networks". I keep predicting the whole independent game mainstream trend to die just for being too disorganized and messy.

i mean you've got fucking

Awomo
Beamdog
Desura
Direct2Drive
DotEmu
GameAgent
GameHouse
GamersGate
GOG
Green Man
Impulse
IndieVania
Origin
Steam
WildTangent
Zylom

I'm sure I'm missing like twenty.

The 80's video game crash was due to the market being flooded by crappy games, not a multitude of platforms providing the same relatively good games.

Competition is good.

Plus, it seems you neglect to realize that those sites offer differing services, such as IndieVania's focus on indie games or GOG's focus on DRM-free products.

how does it make them look foolish, if they buy things and then own them for prices that they accept

does shopping somewhere other than a physical walmart for shoes also make you foolish
